GRILSE Mess Dinner 2025!! 🌊⚓️🦃

In November, we hosted our annual Mess Dinner with our Burnaby branch at the Port Moody Legion. A Sea Cadet mess dinner is a formal ceremonial dinner where cadets practice naval traditions, etiquette, and discipline in a military-style setting, along with many fun games, challenges and shenanigans!

A prestigious award was also presented at this mess dinner to one of our former cadets, ex-CPO2 Chloe Lim, where she was presented the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Bravo Zulu Chief!

The cadets had the opportunity to attend a (small craft operator program this past month (SCOP)

SCOP 1 (Pleasure Craft Operator Card - PCOC)

SCOP 2 (Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime - ROC-M)

These qualifications can serve as prerequisites for certain summer camps, and can be useful in real life situations such as piloting a boat, Sudden weather changes, Engine failure, Man-overboard situations, Accidental groundings and cold-water shock.

Bravo Zulu to everyone for getting their qualifications!!!! 🎉

“We shall not sleep, though poppies grow, in Flanders fields.”

This November 11th, RCSCC 201 GRILSE participated and marched on in the Remembrance Day Parade at Port Moody City Hall, alongside many veterans, service members, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and nearby cadet corps and squadrons. It was a meaningful opportunity to honour those who served, remembering those who never returned home, and reflecting on the legacy of courage and sacrifice, that continues to shape the future of our country.

We thank all cadets, officers, volunteers, families, and community members for supporting this important day of commemoration.

Lest We Forget.

Over the past year, our new and returning senior cadets have all poured in countless hours of dedication to the corps: from training and honing their knowledge and expertise about the Sea Cadet Program, to applying these skills in mentorship and instructional technique; succeeding as the model cadets within our ship’s company!
