A wonderful wrap up of another incredible Rotary year! ☀️💙

Last night we celebrated with a bbq dinner, welcoming our newest Rotarians—Brian, Nicole, and Penny—to the club, and we reflected on a year filled with service, friendship, and community.

A heartfelt thank you to our Executive Team for their leadership, and to every one of our members who continues to give their time, energy, and passion to make a difference. Together we’ve accomplished so much, and it’s inspiring to see the impact we can have when we work together.

Here’s to another amazing year of service above self. Welcome to the Rotary family, Brian, Nicole, and Penny! 💛💙

We are proud to share that we have delivered another set of book bags for the Born To Read Literacy Program.

For more than 20 years, the Port McNeill Rotary Club has partnered with our local public health unit to provide Born to Read bags to new parents.

The program was inspired by retired Rotarian Kathy Martin, who recognized the importance of early reading in building lifelong literacy skills. For many years, fellow Rotarian Kathy Nelson lovingly hand-sewed the book bags, and this year’s bags are dedicated to her memory and commitment to literacy.

One of the first parents to receive a bag shared that it sparked a daily reading habit with her children and helped create their home library.

Supporting literacy is one of Rotary’s core areas of focus, and we are proud to continue investing in the youngest members of our community.

Thank you to the Mount Waddington Family Literacy Society for collaborating with us and ordering all of the fantastic books for us. Always an amazing selection of great books that our local children love.

Your hard work and community spirit helps keep our town looking beautiful and welcoming for everyone. We appreciate all that you do! 🌸🌿

🌿 Phase 3 of the Rotary Club of Port McNeill Community Trail is now complete! 🌿

The topcoat has been applied, and the trail is now compact, smooth, and ready to enjoy!

This is a huge improvement for the bikes, strollers and runners!!! 🙌🏼

Take some time to:

☀️ Bask in the sunshine
🐦 Listen to the birds sing
🌸 Admire the flowers in bloom
🌲 Breathe in the fresh, coastal air
🪑 Break on a bench and enjoy the view
🎨 Discover little treasures along the way, from painted rocks to charming birdhouses

This project would not have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers, Rotarians, and local contractors. Your hard work, generosity, and community spirit have helped create a beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this vision a reality. We hope to see you on the trail soon!

Today, we celebrate Earth Day with this year’s theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.” 💚

It’s a reminder that each of us has the power to make a difference—right here in our own community. Small actions add up, and together we can create a healthier, more sustainable world.

Looking for ways to get involved today?

Here are a few simple ideas:

🌿 Get outside and pick up litter in your neighborhood or along the shoreline

🌳 Plant a tree, flowers, or start a garden

🚶‍♂️ Walk or bike instead of driving

♻️ Reduce, reuse, and recycle—take time to sort and minimize waste

💧 Conserve water and energy at home

🐦 Spend time in nature and appreciate the beauty around us
