Good evening,

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day. The ceremony in Port Hawkesbury starts at 10:40 am. There is a parade in town, that starts at the Union Hall (building between the Anglican Church, across the street from the Big Tim Hortons, and Dairy Queen.

I will be picking up wreaths from the Legion at about 10 am. I will wait at the Union Hall. Should you be there, there will be wreaths for all to lay at the Cenotaph. Should you join me at 10:30 at the Union Hall, we can join the parade, following the Cadets, Girl Guides and Legion members. If not, you can meet me on the hill.

Please dress for the weather. It is really cold when the wind blows. There is no shelter. Winter coats are a must. Gloves and hats are a must. Snow pants or slush pants or long underwear are a good idea.

According to the Weather network, it may rain. If it is only a little, it is still outside. If it is a lot, it may be in the Civic Centre or the Legion. Listen to the Hawk for updates. Decisions will probably be made at 9:30 am since time is needed to set up the equipment for the HAWK to transmit the ceremony live and over the air. It is calling for wind to be 17 Km NW (wind gust 27Km/h).

This will be posted in the 1st Port Hawkesbury Scouts FB site also.

Hope to see you there. Should you choose to join ceremonies in your community, please do so.

See you on Tuesday at St. Mark's Church hall.

11/05/2023

Our first meeting is this coming Tuesday, November 7th.
We will be meeting at the Legion. Please wait at the back door, where the ramp is located. Parking is in the back, unpaved area.

We will be visiting the upper room at the Legion to see memorabilia and to have Legion members give all of us a different perspective of the importance of Remembrance Day.

Parents are welcome to attend.

There is also a Remembrance Day Ceremony this coming Saturday. A parade lead by Legion members, the cadets and Guides is also taking place. We will meet at the Union Hall (between the Anglican Church and Dairy Queen) at 10:30 am with the parade starting at 10:45 am from the Union parking lot. I will have wreaths for the youth to place at the Cenopaph from local businesses.

Please listen to the Hawk to see if there is a change in location (due to rain).
