Today, the Port Hardy Rotary Club was deeply honoured to present Jim Borrowman and Tyra from the Whale Interpretive Centre with a $15,000 donation in support of an incredible piece of our coastal history.

This contribution will go directly toward the cleaning and preservation of the Bryde’s whale bones discovered on the beach in Port McNeill — a remarkable discovery that has captured the interest and imagination of our entire region.

Projects like this remind us how important it is to preserve and celebrate the natural wonders that connect our communities and tell the story of our coastline for generations to come.

Rotary is proud to support initiatives that inspire education, conservation, and community pride. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this meaningful project forward.

UPDATE: The District of Port Hardy is working on having the new equipment installed. We will post here when we have an update on when the it is ready to use.

Several years ago, the Port Hardy Rotary Club stepped up to invest in new park equipment, replacing aging structures that had long served our community. This upgrade was greatly needed and reflects Rotary’s ongoing commitment to enhancing local spaces for families and children. Following archaeological approval, we’re excited to share that the new equipment will be installed by May 8—bringing renewed life, safety, and enjoyment to the park for years to come.
