COPD Awareness Canada

COPD Awareness Canada COPD Awareness Canada's Vision Statement -

A world where everyone has an understanding of COPD. My name is Andy Martin.

A not for profit organization dedicated to increasing the detection and diagnosis rate of the seriously under-diagnosed set of diseases, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease- COPD. In 2009 my father, Charlie Martin, passed away due to the seriously under-diagnosed disease called emphysema. It progresses so slowly and innocently, over half of the people who have it don't even realize it. Emphysema

is part of a group of diseases, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which also includes Chronic Bronchitis and Refractory Asthma. My dad was diagnosed in 2000 but now that I know more about the disease, it's obvious that the symptoms were present many years before that. In late 2015, I began an independent project ripping VHS tapes in half with my bare hands to raise awareness of COPD. I was going to set the first Guinness World Record for ripping VHS tapes as the VHS Tape Ripper. Along the way, some friends and myself started this organization with the goal of making a bigger impact on awareness and diagnosis rates of COPD.
