The world has a saying that “behind every good man is a good woman.” The men whose stories appear in these pages are, generally, no exception. The majority of these biographies record the lives of two people, a husband and wife. These dear wives often ‘stood by the stuff’ to allow their husbands to engage fully in the work to which the Lord had called them. The majority of biographies tell the story of two people dedicated to the work of God.

Between the years of 2010 and 2019, some valued servants of the Lord were called home. This book is a short, interesting biography of these men who were involved in preaching, teaching and missionary work. Many were household names to most of us, and their memory is revered. Others may not be so well known, yet they faithfully served their Master during their lifetime.

For thus said the Lord God…“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling, Isaiah 30:15

And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. Isaiah 32:17

The world cannot offer quietness or assurance. Those without Christ run frantically to and fro seeking both because they refuse to accept these gifts from the Saviour. Only where righteousness prevails will quietness and peace be found. If you’re still looking, the key is, “In returning and rest you shall be saved.” Come to Christ and trust Him today!

In the United States, we celebrate Memorial Day in May each year to remember those who have gone before, especially those who have given their lives for their country. The Lord has ordained each first day of the week as a memorial day for us to remember the cost of our salvation. Let us bow our heads and our hearts in worship and remembrance of Him today.
