Congratulations go out to George Elcich of Pelham ON, winner of our first early bird cash draw of $500 on Mother’s Day.
George is not the only winner as the PC Lions have donated almost $40,000 during the past Lion’s year to various groups including support to the youth of Port Colborne and surrounding area totalling $9,000, to various other community groups totalling $12,000. Lion projects such as Dog Guides, the various Lions Camps for the blind, diabetic, and cancer patients have also received support totalling $18,000. And we are not yet done. We have requests coming in every week and will review them before our year end in June. All this support to our youth, community and Lions projects is only possible due to your generosity and support to our Major Car Draw sales.
We have again selected a Subaru vehicle for this year’s draw. Here is what a recent article by Consumer’s report has to say about Subaru.
According to Consumer Reports, Subaru has been named the 2026 Best Overall Automotive Brand based on reliability, safety, owner satisfaction, and road test evaluations. As an independent organization trusted by consumers for unbiased testing and research, Consumer Reports adds meaningful third-party credibility to this recognition. Consumer Reports also named the Crosstrek and Forester the best in their respective segments.
This year’s draw includes two more early bird cash draws of $1,000; one being at the PC Lions Carnival to be drawn on July 12th, and the other at Canal Days being drawn on Monday, Aug. 3rd
The final draw for the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek AWD SUV with Onyx Package will take place on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, at the Lions Community Centre in Port Colborne.
Tickets are just $20 each or 3 for $50. They can be purchased online at www.portcolbornelions.rafflenexus.com.

Walk for Dog Guides:
The Port Colborne Lions are once again hosting a “Walk for Dog Guides” on Sunday, May 31st, 2026 from the Port Colborne Lions Community Centre located at 49 Chippawa Road, Port Colborne. Registration starts at 10 am with the walk commencing at 11 am, followed by a light luncheon for all participants.
Did you know that Dog Guides are provided free of charge for those in need and that not only are Vision Dog Guides available, but also Diabetes Alert, Facility Support, Seizure Response, Hearing, Service and Autism Assistance Dog Guides are available, all provided through Dog Guides of Canada sponsored by Lions in your community.
Why not join the PC Lions and raise funds for this worth while cause. Contact your neighbours, friends and relatives and ask them to sponsor you, then bring your furry friend for the walk and enjoy the great outdoors as we walk the trail behind the old Robin Hood Mill.

Mother's Day is fast approaching, as is the first early bird draw of $500 cash on the Port Colborne Lions Club Major Car Draw. This year's draw for a 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Onyx addition will be held on Tuesday, October 13th at the Lions Community Centre in Port Colborne. This year's draw includes three early bird cash draws, the first is on Mother's Day, May 10th for $500; the second one is on the last day of this year's carnival for $1,000; and the last cash draw will be on the final day of Canal Days, again for $1,000. Get you tickets early to be included on all draws including the SUV. Tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50 and can be purchased online at www.portcolbornelions.rafflenexus.com. Purchasers must be 18 years of age and in Ontario to buy your tickets.

The effective speaking competition is coming up soon. If you want to create your own speech and participate then please call or email Lion Laura Sachs for information on how to get involved. This is open to all Port Colborne and Wainfleet students grades 4-12 English and French.

2 years ago we had multiple students attend the MDA competition where they won some large cash prizes.
