Solterra Co-Housing Ltd. Each co-owner purchases a percentage interest in the home and share the common expenses, taxes and HOMECARE costs. Co-owners self-govern, self-control.

Each co-owner obtains an exclusive right to occupy a specific suite through a registered Co-ownership Agreement and the provisions of the Co-ownership Agreement. The shared costs associated with the operation of the home including the utilities, common expenses, care cost, food and taxes are shared amongst all the co-owners. Each senior has their own private suite with ensuite and shares the rest

of the home with other “like seniors”. If they want to leave or need to leave at any time selling is as easy as calling their own real estate agent to re-list their interest on MLS. Our subsidiary company, Solterra In-home Support Services Ltd. (SISS) provides the co-owners with the support services necessary for daily living, including but not limited to, grocery shopping, meal preparations, cooking, medication reminders, cleaning and laundry on an “as needed basis”. The organizational governance for decision making in the home is self-directed. Solterra management will assist and facilitate the group to ensure all needs in the household are met enabling the seniors to maximize their feeling of comfort and control. All of our single family homes are upgraded to include 24/7 alarm systems and on-site emergency response, personal panic buttons and alarms that can be purchased on an individual basis. (Further, we have mandated procedures to match those set out in the Ministry of Health guidelines)

Our goal is to facilitate strong relationships with community agencies to ensure our owners are staying connected to their community and maintain a feeling of well-being and independence. We hire all staff locally and believe that by overseeing proper nutrition, meal planning, food preparation, nutritional needs and counteracting social isolation. Our Seniors are able to maintain their dignity and self-esteem as well as decrease the isolation many seniors face when a spouse passes or are moved to an institutional retirement home. The Solterra concept and sharing-a-home with other “like Seniors” improves individual emotional well-being thereby helping seniors to live with dignity, stability and safety while still “aging at home” and maintaining an equity position in real property.
