Did You Know…

The modern version of Mother's Day took form in the early 20th century, thanks to Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis and her daughter Anna. After her mother’s death in 1905, Anna Jarvis sought to create a day to honour all mothers and their sacrifices. Canada officially adopted Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May in 1914. By the 1920s, the day became widespread across Canada.

The Port Burwell Historical Society wishes to honour mothers everywhere and celebrate their roles within the home and community. Thank you for all you do!

Huge shoutout to the generous folks with the Vienna Lions for their donation towards the refreshments for the Port Burwell Canada Day festivities. It's through donations such as this that help us provide Canada Day to everyone for free.

By the way, members of the Vienna Lions will also be cooking up the hot dogs on site by the Marine Museum.
