Port Alberni Shelter Society

Port Alberni Shelter Society PASS provides a variety of housing options, food, clothing, services and support for those experiencing homelessness.

The Port Alberni Shelter Society builds therapeutic recovery communities centred on farming and growing food, where residents develop skills and opportunities while accessing all other essential supports for people experiencing homelessness. Shelter Farm, our social enterprise, is also the home of our Therapeutic Recovery Community (TRC) program.

Have you heard of Foundry Port Alberni?

Foundry is a province-wide network of free integrated health and wellness services for young people ages 12–24 and their caregivers.
There are currently 20 Foundry's open in BC, with 15 more in development.

Currently under development, Foundry Port Alberni will bring together youth-focused organizations already serving our community to create a coordinated hub, where we work in collaboration to make accessing care and support easier for youth and their families.

ADAPS Youth and Family Services is the host agency for Foundry Port Alberni www.adaps.org

It's going to be very hot today and tomorrow! Please monitor your elders, kids, pets and livestock and those most vulnerable to heat stress. Our OPS (corner of Bute/3rd) is open from 8am-8pm for anyone needing some extra support to cool off, enjoy the A/C and get some water. Some good tips for how to stay cool are below:

As you may have heard, Harbour Quay is getting a makeover. Rest assured Spirit Square Farmers' Market will continue throughout the construction. All the folks from Shelter Farm are looking forward to seeing you this Saturday, 9am-12pm. Thank you for supporting local food! πŸ“

πŸ“£πŸ“£πŸ“£Yes, we will be running the market through the summer! We will be in the same place, as always, in the Spirit Square.

The only downside to the renovations happening at the quay, is the loss of parking. The quay parking lot will blocked off at the water fountain until the end of summer.

Here’s a reminder of the other parking lots close by where you can park to attend the market - by the train station, behind the Porto taco building and further down Harbour road by the maritime discovery centre.

Come on out to our Community Dance Practice this Monday, June 8th at 6:00 PM at the House of Gathering!

Everyone is welcome β€” all ages and experience levels. Whether you want to dance, sing, learn, or simply come watch, visit, and spend time with community, we'd love to see you there.

We would especially love to see our neighbours from Tseshaht First Nation, Huu-ay-aht First Nations, and all other Nations join us as we come together as one family to celebrate, learn, and share our cultures through song and dance.

These practices are a great opportunity for us to learn, prepare, and come together as one community as we get ready for the upcoming FIFA Live Watch Parties.

Please feel free to share it with other Nations
