So you’re thinking about enrolling in 4H with a project… we are excited to have you!
Here are something things to help you know what to expect.
It costs $125 to register thru the 4HBC website. The 4H year begins with meetings January and runs thru October. We do have 1 event in November and one in December: an awards night and winter wonderland skate.
Please see our previous posts about projects offered this year.
We have one business meeting per month — the 3rd Tuesday of the month— this is for the kids in all projects to discuss events, fundraising, and how to the spend resources they have on what they need. The kids run the meeting, the club has a president, treasurer, secretary etc and learn to run meetings using parliamentary procedure. Cloverbuds do not attend these meetings.
To successfully complete the 4H year 3 things need to happen. 1: your 4Her will need to successfully complete a record book 2: achieve by showing their project either at the Fall Fair or another set time 3: stay engaged and learning the project throughout the year.
4HBC has a communication and judging component, these things include speeches, judging (animals, baking, photography etc) and making educational display boards. While these are not mandatory to be successful in completing the 4H year, they are a great asset to your child in life.
Each project will have 1 or maybe 2 project meetings per month. These will be hands on learning. Dates and times will be determined by families in the project with the project leader that works for all.
4HBC mandates that each meeting have 2 leaders present at each meeting for safety purposes. If you might consider being a screened volunteer for your project meetings, please do!
Once enrolled in 4H we do require that you are willing to volunteer your time and efforts to help us volunteer. Specifically at the Fall Fair. We fundraise for the club and as they say, many hands make light work!
Once you’ve decided you’re ready to join us we will send you a list of dates for the year and our club policy.
