Yukon Dan, whose real name is Dan Moore, is a professional gold panner, world champion competitor, and educator with over 40 years of hands-on experience. He won a silver medal for Canada's national team at the 1998 World Gold Panning Championships and took first prize at Barkerville's 2012 Gold Panning Championship. 2026 Fair Services Director & Community Leader

With over 4 years of dedication to the Alberni District Fall Fair, Chad Hunter is an invaluable cornerstone of our community who always steps up when needed most.

Originally from Squamish, Chad made his way to Vancouver Island over 20 years ago and has been making a difference ever since. As our 2026 Fair Services Director and an active member of the Kinsmen Club of Port Alberni, Chadโ€™s passion for service keeps him constantly on the go. When he isn't hard at work on the fairgrounds, you can find him helping folks spruce up all their RV needs over at Arbutus RV.

For Chad, the best part of the Fair is the community participation and the chance for everyone to gather. Itโ€™s a value he holds close to his heartโ€”and one he is proudly passing down to his daughter, Sophie, who serves alongside him on the Fall Fair Junior Board.
