It was another successful cut Saturday 16th, with 13 of our great Neighbours putting in the effort for this Community. And especially, our amazing repeat Broombusters - you know who you are (don't you Thomas, one hard workin' lil' dude!) !!
The Staples Hill looks great and we are calling that spot done for the year.
Pods are forming and we'll probably still be cutting on the weekends, but not this one.
STAY TUNED!
In the meantime the rest of you, get your butts out there and get the rest of it (just kidding, hehe!).
But seriously.
We are seeing so many spots where broom is coming back after we've cut there 2-3 times.
It's not just pretty little flowers.
It's a highly invasive plant that has a higher burning temperature due to all the toxic oils in it. And given where we live, it could potentially spell disaster for us here.
Cut your broom now, cut it in the winter, pull it, cut the stalks or just cut the flowers - whatever you need to do to stop seed pods from forming. Heck, turn it into a pretty topiary, but don't allow those pods to form!
If you cut plants that have full seed pods, don't transport them.
And to all of you out there working tirelessly on your own ditches & properties, we see you π ππ. Thank you.
