Mondays were made for Mini Painting at the Alberni Valley Makerspace!

Tonight we are hosting our open mini painting group, that means everyone from a first time newbie, to a seasoned veteran can join in the fun of painting miniatures. Members get in free, non-members pay a $5 drop-in rate. We provide all the supplies, as well as a free mini! Come and learn how to paint miniatures with other makers, every Monday from 6-9pm.

Today is what it’s all about!!

A person came in and asked if we could print a peace of medical assistance equipment. This part is not critical but offers a considerable improvement to care. It cost hundreds of dollars each and are often lost or need to be replaced. We were able to provide them with 10 of the devices, and now they won’t need to worry about loosing them or needing new once for a little while.

This is the kind of stuff that keeps us going, the Alberni Valley Makerspace isn’t just for flexible dragons and Star Wars toys. 3D printing can be used for everyday needs that can improve people lives!

I have kept this vague as possible for privacy, and yes we talked a lot about the type of materials we use and how they may not be made to the same standards as other materials. We also explained that we are not medical professionals and that we are not suggesting that all assisted devices can be replaced.

Feeling kind of awesome 🙂
