The Royal Canadian Legion Dr. William Collingwood Memorial Branch 33 held its Annual General Meeting and Election of Officers on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The election was conducted and the installation of officers was facilitated by Comrade Calvin Smith, District Commander from NL Provincial Command.

The newly elected executive is as follows:

President: Bernie Power
1st Vice President: Brian Lake
2nd Vice President: Wayne Power
Treasurer: Lisa O’Leary
Secretary: Rhonda Power
Directors: Jenny Browne, Carley Fiander, Maggie Gambin, Ita Hatfield, Bill Murphy, Ian Walsh
Past President: Bill Cochrane

Sincere appreciation is extended to the outgoing members of the executive committee for their service, leadership, and commitment to the Branch during their term. Their contributions have helped strengthen the work and presence of Branch 33 within the community.

Congratulations are extended to the newly installed executive officers. The Branch looks forward to their leadership and continued dedication in the year ahead.

Thanks are also extended to all members of the Branch and the wider community for their ongoing support, participation, and commitment to the values and activities of the Legion.

The mission of the Royal Canadian Legion is to serve Veterans, including serving and retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, as well as their families and communities. The Legion is dedicated to remembrance, advocacy for Veterans’ rights and well-being, and the promotion of service and community support across Canada.

The draw will take place during the Placentia Lions TV Bingo on July 30, 2026.

We are pleased to welcome Canadian Blood Services for today’s blood donor clinic from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

There is an immediate need for donors of all blood types in Placentia. Every donation helps ensure that patients across Canada receive the blood products they need when they need them most.

You give hope. You give purpose. By donating blood, you have the opportunity to make a quiet but incredibly powerful difference in someone’s life. Every donation has the potential to help save lives and support families during difficult times.

Enjoy live entertainment by Contraband featuring Bob Redmond, performing an outstanding mix of classic rock and roll, country favourites, Irish tunes, and Newfoundland classics. The music starts at 9:30 p.m. and keeps the dance floor moving until 1:00 a.m.

All proceeds from the June 2026 Charity Game will support our cadet corps. Bingo cards for WEEK TWO are just $2.00 each and are NOW AVAILABLE at participating retail locations where bingo cards are sold.

Cards can be purchased at Super One Stop, Placentia Orange Store, Lawton’s Drug Store, Green’s Drug Store, Wilson’s Gas Bar and Dunville North Atlantic.

A Busy Day at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 33 – Sunday, June 7, 2026

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 33 in Placentia will be a busy place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with a full day of activities for members and the public alike.

Members Only: Annual General Meeting, Election & Installation of Officers

The day begins at 12:00 p.m. with a hot meal for members, followed by the Annual General Meeting, Election, and Installation of Officers.

We are pleased to welcome Comrade Calvin Smith, District Commander, who will preside over the Election and Installation of Officers.

Members must have their 2026 membership dues paid in full to participate in the Election of Officers. Proof of membership will be required.

Dress: Uniform or appropriate civilian attire.

Please note: The meal, AGM, Election, and Installation of Officers are for Legion members only.

Open to the Public: Sunday Session & Chase the Ace

NOTICE TO MEMBERS

The Annual General Meeting, Election, and Installation of Officers for the Royal Canadian Legion will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The day will begin at 12:00 p.m. with a hot meal, followed by the AGM, Election, and Installation of Officers.

We are pleased to welcome Comrade Calvin Smith, District Commander, who will preside over the Election and Installation of Officers.
