A healthy dose of 18 paddlers, youthfully minded and younger, arrived at the Cherry Valley boat launch ready to hit the eastern waters of East Lake.
Compliments to the group looking after the improvements at the launch. The dock has been updated and is very sturdy.

The winds were a bit concerning as we exited at the mouth of the launch, but keeping closer to shore solved that hurdle for the paddleboarders; many of the kayakers went all the way to the "island," seeing turtles, a variety of birds, dock frog, geese and ducks.

Oh, and the skinny-necked swan.

Despite the smoky skies, 10 hardy paddlers ventured out last night for another great evening on the water. Several made it all the way to the Tyendinaga Bridge, while a couple of us even had the chance to practise our sailing skills—until the wind decided it had done enough for the evening!

Our post-paddle debrief on the dock was, as always, a highlight. One paddler discovered that chatting on a gently bobbing dock isn’t quite the same as standing on solid ground and had to relocate before the “sea legs” gave out.

A sweltering Thursday evening on West Lake invited many paddlers to take a refreshing dip.

It was so nice, and we thank Wesley Acres for the opportunity to be refreshed as we launched from their dock area.

There were plenty of wildlife sightings to take in, including raccoons, fawns, ospreys, ducks, loons, and even a swan decoy.

The debrief was snacktacular and full of chatter as paddlers from both paddling groups merged. It was a fun time sharing snacks and stories.
