The Waring House has been a sponsor of the PEC Studio Tour for over two decades! We couldn’t be happier to have them as our Diamond Sponsor for our 32nd annual PEC Studio Tour.

The Waring House has been an amazing host for many PEC Studio Tour events over the years, including Preview Shows, Christmas Shows, annual general meetings, and it has also acted as the Info Centre for the Studio Tour. The Waring House also helps us promote the Studio Tour with a large promotional sign on their property.

Owners Norah and Chris Rogers have wonderfully supportive staff, and we are always so grateful for their ongoing support of the Tour and local artists and artisans. Stop by their dining room and their Barley Room Pub for a meal or drinks (or maybe some trivia!), and be sure to check out their ongoing live music series. Located at 395 Sandy Hook Road (in Picton at the Roundabout).

On behalf of all of the Studio Tour artists and volunteers, we’re incredibly thankful for The Waring House’s ongoing support of this beloved County event, and all their support of the arts in Prince Edward County for decades.

Today we’re delighted to highlight our Platinum Sponsor, Base31!

Base31, a former WWII air training base, is a multi-faceted cultural destination bustling with not-to-be missed experiences, right in the heart of Prince Edward County.

Home to an artisan market and several art galleries and artists’ studios, like Melt Studio and Gallery and Side x Side Studios, Base31 is bustling with visual spectacles and arts activities - from concerts and festivals to sculpture and mural installations and everything in between.

Base 31’s Lecture Hall was the perfect setting for our 2023 30th Anniversary PEC Studio Tour live paint-around and preview show. With new and exciting ventures always around the corner, we can’t wait to see what Base31 does next!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Base31 team for all their support of the PEC Studio Tour!

🎨 Meet painter and potter Jane Vanderniet (J.V.D.Niet) and guest artist Laurie McRae, oil painter and fibre artist, at stop no. 11 on this year’s PEC Studio Tour!

Jane’s light-filled home studio and gallery space is located along scenic Wilson Road in Hillier. Her bold, colourful, and representational painting style captures everything from tranquil Prince Edward County landscapes to impactful still lifes and beyond.

Jane has been making art for as long as she can remember, and she finds it incredibly fulfilling to create. For several years, she’s also enjoyed creating with clay, most often creating ceramic mugs. Her ceramics often incorporate punchy glazes combined with unique stamped details, including - but not limited to - frogs, dogs, bicycles, cacti and strawberries - just to name a few!

Laurie McRae joins Jane this year as a guest artist. A multifaceted artist who paints with fibre in addition to oils, her striking and textured works range from beautiful landscapes to still lifes, florals and abstracts.

Laurie will be featuring lots of new textile paintings with highly textured, two-dimensional content and a fun 60s vibe with playful subject matter. Each painting is unique, showcasing the wide variety of fibre art techniques. You may even find Laurie working on one of her fibre paintings during Studio Tour weekend!

🎨 Meet printmaker and painter Lucy Sterezylo at stop no. 38 on this year’s PEC Studio Tour!

Her first time on the Studio Tour, Lucy invites tour-goers to take a break from the world and explore the process of printmaking in her Picton-based studio, stareatjello Paper & Press.

Lucy explores the everyday through a variety of media including letterpress printing, intaglio and lino printmaking, as well as gouache painting. Working predominantly on paper with an emphasis on the natural world, flora, fauna and fungi often serve as the subjects of her pieces.

Lucy’s pieces are whimsical, filled with a sense of wonder and playfulness, yet grounded in a deep reverence for nature. “The sounds of spring birds arriving back, combined with distant holiday memories, set a path for my most recent body of work,” she says, “a series of mixed media paintings of screaming birds on tiled backgrounds.”

“With all that is going on in the current landscape it is easy to become overwhelmed and shut down. In my work, as I navigate how to contribute to a more just, inclusive and kind world, I seek to capture the everyday beauty and tiny glimpses of joy and hope. I create these paintings with the intent of providing the viewer some respite from the heaviness of the world around them.”
