Earlier in August, we brought together local organizations and other key stakeholders working to address food insecurity in Prince Edward County for a session around applying to The County Foundation’s Vital Impact Fund.

For 2026, the Vital Impact Fund is focused on Food Security, with the aim of supporting the processes, efficiencies, and infrastructure of local organizations so they can better respond to the community’s needs.

We shared insights from Vital Signs, introduced the 2026 Vital Impact Fund focus, and heard from Stephanie and Haley from The Table Community Food Centre in Perth who joined us as guest speakers to share how they have approached addressing food insecurity in their community.

Food insecurity is a national issue across Canada that is affecting communities of all sizes. We hope the 2026 Vital Impact Fund can help invest in the ideas, partnerships, and solutions that can make a difference here in Prince Edward County. Next up in our Board introductions is Sarah Moffatt!

Sarah joined TCF’s Board of Directors three years ago in 2023, and she has certainly made an impact! A highly engaged and community-minded leader, Sarah works with Highland Shores Children’s Aid and also serves on the Prince Edward Learning Centre’s Board.

At TCF, Sarah keeps busy as a member of our Granting & Community Impact Committee, Vital Signs & Community Engagement Committee, and our Investment Committee.

No matter which committee she’s sitting on, Sarah always helps keep the focus where it belongs: on our community and the people we’re here to serve. Thank you Sarah! 💙

We are currently accepting applications for the Huff Family Fund, and tomorrow we have a webinar happening at 11am!

The County Foundation is now accepting applications for The Huff Family Fund until Tuesday, September 14th at 4PM. Thank you to the Huff’s for their ongoing generosity to our community.

This fund supports registered charities in Prince Edward County that provide programs and services to local residents. Only projects benefiting Prince Edward County are eligible.

This fund supports the following areas: Addiction and Mental Health, Animal Welfare, Arts and Culture, Health Care and Human Services, Housing Issues, and Vital Signs Priority Areas as defined by TCF Vital Signs Reports, including: Education/Learning; Food Security; and Transportation.

On Friday, we said goodbye to Siobhan, who joined us this summer as our Grants Administrative Assistant before she heads to Concordia to begin her degree in Film studies. We are so incredibly grateful for her time with us and all that she brought to this role.

She was an amazing addition to our team, taking on two major projects this summer, including helping to lead the Municipal Financial Relief Program with passion, thoughtfulness, and her poetic flair. Additionally, Siobhan also helped us navigate a generous donation of artwork from the Katherine and Douglas MacPherson Estate, researching the pieces and exploring how we could maximize their benefit for the community.

Thank you to Siobhan for all your work with us this summer. You have been such a valued part of our team and will certainly be missed, but we’re so excited to see all that you accomplish in the next chapter. Wishing you all the best at Concordia! 💙

We’re starting a new mini-series highlighting the members of The County Foundation’s Board of Directors, beginning with Braydon Scully!

Braydon is our current Chair and joined TCF’s Board of Directors in 2020. He is currently serving his final term with us and has been a valued part of the foundation’s leadership for the past six years. Throughout his tenure, Braydon has seen the Board transition from a working Board to a governance Board as the foundation has grown and expanded its staff team. He is also a member of our Finance Committee as well as Co-Chair of our Relationship Management and Development Committee.

A big thank you to Braydon for his services to our community. 💙

We are so thrilled to finally reveal the winner of our kids artwork contest: Mieke!

A few months ago, we did a call for artwork submissions asking for a drawing of either a hummingbird or your favourite spot in Prince Edward County. The winning piece would be used to help design our new thank you cards for our donors and other community partners.

We received so many incredible submissions, but our Board and staff were so impressed with Mieke’s drawing. As the winner of the contest, Mieke received a $100 gift card to a local business of her choice and she chose Books & Company!📕 We had the opportunity to present the gift card as well as the “hot off the presses” new thank you cards, so Mieke could see her design come to life.

Thank you to all the young artists that sent in their submissions for the contest. It was hard to choose between all the wonderful and creative pieces of art we were sent! The County is full of talented artistic kids, and we’re so lucky to get to share their talents with our community. 💙

The County of Prince Edward is pleased to partner with Reaching for Rainbows to launch a pilot program to expand access to child care options.

🔹This program represents a practical, community-driven approach to addressing immediate child care challenges while building a stronger foundation for long-term growth, workforce participation, and family well-being in Prince Edward County.

The PEC Arts Fund is supported by a maximum contribution of $50k in funding per year in 2025 and 2026 from the County of Prince Edward's share of the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT).

What makes the PEC Arts Fund unique is that funding from the municipality is leveraged to gain further support for the arts in our community, as The PEC Arts Fund accepts donations from individual donors and businesses who are passionate about supporting the arts.

Donations to the PEC Arts Fund contribute to a larger pooled fund administered by TCF. This means that donations go further than they could on their own, continuing to grow over time, leading to more sustainable funding for the arts.

Investment of funding from the MAT into the arts sector can generate more MAT revenue by attracting visitors to the County. That revenue can help to support things like critical infrastructure needs as well as community amenities like the arts that lead to a richer quality of life for our residents and benefit our local economy.

REMINDER: The County of Prince Edward is seeking input from residents and the business community on how future Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) dollars should be used.

Share your thoughts by visiting the Have Your Say tab in the link in our bio and completing the survey. The survey will take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete.

In 2025, County Council directed staff to consult with the community to understand the priorities for spending the municipal portion of MAT revenue. Survey results will inform a new framework for future MAT allocations.

The deadline to fill out the survey is Friday, August 14 at 4 pm.
