Dear Prince Edward County, I'm pleased to welcome our team members back to Community Living Prince Edward. I would like to sincerely thank the people we support, their families, our community partners, and the broader community as we navigated a challenging period. I'm especially grateful to the people we support and their families for the flexibility and resilience they demonstrated as services and routines were adjusted.

I thank the members of OPSEU Local 448 for working with us to reach a mutual agreement. In the days and weeks ahead, our focus is on reconnecting, supporting one another, and continuing to provide quality services and supports to those we serve. I look forward to moving ahead together, rebuilding relationships, and focusing on our shared commitment to championing inclusion in the County.

Sincerely, Susan Treverton

August 15, 2026 - A Message to Our Community

Community Living Prince Edward and OPSEU/SEFPO Local 448 are pleased to share that an agreement has been reached, ending the strike.

Both parties remained focused on the continuity of care for supported individuals. We recognize the impact this has had on our community, and we are grateful for the patience and understanding shown to us throughout.

The path forward is one of reconciliation and renewed strength. Community Living Prince Edward is driven by a commitment to those we serve, and to the employees who make that care possible. As we return to full service delivery, we do so with appreciation for a community that continues to stand with us.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

Stay tuned for this insights-packed conversation coming next Tuesday, June 16!

There aren’t any statistics on exactly how many Canadians who have a disability live in rural and remote parts of the country.

And almost two-thirds of all the municipalities in Canada, are remote.

There are some distinctly different challenges for people who have a disability in remote and rural comunities compared to urban cities.

Tune in to Episode 43 of our podcast and learn about them.

We’ve got the perspective from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and from Fredricton, New Brunswick in Eastern Canada. Both areas are remote, in fact almost 50% of New Brunswickers live in rural areas.

Don’t miss this conversation with:

–Denise McKee, Executive Director of The Northwest Territories Council on Disability
–Shelley Petit, Chair of The New Brunswick Coalition of Persons With Disabilities

The County is currently developing a Youth Engagement Strategy and is hosting a series of engagement sessions to help shape the plan. They are seeking input from young people aged 14–29 and want to hear directly about what's missing or hard to access in Prince Edward County.

There are three upcoming opportunities for youth to get involved and share their perspectives:

June 17 - Ameliasburgh Town Hall (5-7pm)
June 18 - Picton Town Hall (5-7pm)
June 22 - Virtual (5-6pm)
