Get Grounded is officially back! 🌱

This past week, we kicked off Week 1 of our stress management & mental wellbeing workshop at two rural PEC schools! Students explored what stress is, how it can show up in everyday life, and some of the common stressors teens face. It was wonderful seeing many new faces and some familiar ones!

Through interactive activities, the grade 8’s started building their own stress kits, and will add to them as the workshop continues, over the next couple of weeks. Let’s just say… their future selves will definitely thank them. ✨

Thank you to The Stark Family Fund for providing this opportunity to local youth in PEC.

On Tuesday June 9th, youth in grades 7 & 8 can join Amy Bodman from PEC Field Naturalists, along with Cheryl Chapman from SSJI for an engaging off-site Chimney Swift workshop. Chimney swifts are small, fast-flying birds known for their unique habit of roosting and nesting inside chimneys and other vertical structures. They are considered a species at risk in Ontario due to habitat loss and decline in flying insect populations.

This workshop will introduce youth to the importance of protecting local wildlife and understanding how human environments can impact species like the chimney swift. We’ll begin with a 15-20 minute introduction at theROC, followed by a walk to The Cape to observe and learn how to spot swifts in their natural habitat.

Still need a permission form? Contact Whitney at [email protected] or texting/calling 613-408-6204.
