What role can rural community halls and gathering places play in building stronger, more resilient communities?

Over recent coffee chats, we’ve explored halls as places for food, learning, energy and water resilience, community connection, and emergency support. We’ve also heard a clear message: not every hall needs to do everything. When halls, local organizations, municipalities, and emergency partners work together, each place can contribute its own strengths.

🎒Help us stock the pantry for back-to-school season! 🍎

As our local children head back to school, the Pantry is looking for breakfast foods and snacks to help fill lunchboxes, backpacks, and hungry morning bellies — not just for September, but all year long. 💛

Some helpful donations include:

🥣 Cereal & oatmeal
🍎 Granola bars & snack bars
🧃 Juice & juice boxes
🍿 Crackers & other easy snacks
🧇 Pancake mix & other breakfast staples
🥛 Shelf-stable breakfast foods & milk / milk alternatives
💵 Dollars - set up a one time or monthly donation (QR code in image gallery)

Want to help? Donations can be dropped off at the Community Pantry anytime.

Our volunteers will be collecting donations at the Broad Cove hall during the Fun Run Sept 12th. Thank you to Broad Cove Community Association.

Every box of cereal, package of crackers, or handful of granola bars helps make sure local families have food to get through the school day. 🌱

Community Pantry volunteers will be at the Broad Cove Hall for the Fun Run on September 12th 8am-noon.

Look for us in blue shirts and we will happily be accepting food donations, fresh produce from your gardens and of course $$$$$$$$!

The pantry is presently costing around $200/ week and we need your support to help keep it stocked.

There is an opportunity for every interest, from stocking the shelves to planning "meal kits" to organizing fundraising events!

Hey pals! 👋🏻 We want to tell you about something we’re really excited about at the pantry. 😃

Meal kits! 🍜🥞🍲🫛🥫🍽️

Meal kits are like care packages with all the ingredients you need to make a wholesome meal, including the recipe. 🙌🏻

Right now we’re fundraising with a goal of $500 to put together over 50 meal kits for our community. 👏🏻💵💌

This is the kind of community care where your small contribution will make such an important impact. 💝👩‍❤️‍👨👩‍❤️‍👨👩‍❤️‍👨
