TRACKS Youth Program

TRACKS Youth Program Thank you/Miigwech/Nia:wen!

TRACKS (TRent Aboriginal Cultural Knowledge and Science) facilitates dynamic, land-based youth programming that braids multiple scientific approaches by centering Indigenous ways of knowing and being. The Trent Aboriginal Cultural Knowledge and Science (TRACKS) Program was developed in the spring of 2010, under the direction of a small group of interested students, professors and community members

involved with the Indigenous Environmental Studies (IES) Program at Trent University. We aim to bring all youth, particularly those of Indigenous background, programming that is focused on multiple ways of seeing and understanding the world and the environment -- specifically focusing on the central theme of the IES program, that brings together Traditional/Indigenous Knowledge and science in the areas of environmental studies. We are grateful for partnerships with Indigenous Environmental Studies/Sciences, Trent University, Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre, Curve Lake First Nation, Alderville First Nation, Hiawatha First Nation, Scugog First Nation, Kawartha World Issues Centre, the Sacred Water Circle, and Peterborough Green Up. Our generous sponsors include the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough, Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group, United Way of Peterborough & District, and NSERC.

While this camp prioritizes registration for Black youth, TRACKS will also be offering other P.A. Day and week-long camps throughout the year that are open to all youth.
