Tonight, The Canadian Canoe Museum received the Attraction of the Year award at the 2026 Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence, celebrating the very best of Ontario’s tourism industry. We could not be prouder!

This honour puts a provincial spotlight on the experience we have built together on the shores of Little Lake, where visitors explore the world’s largest collection of paddled watercraft, learn from builders sharing their skills and knowledge, and make their own memories on the water.

To our staff, volunteers, Indigenous partners, members and supporters, thank you for everything you bring to the Museum. There are so many people behind this achievement, and we are thrilled to share it with you.

And to our visitors, whether you have joined us once or return again and again, thank you for making us part of your adventures.

For the first time ever, Peterborough Canoe & Kayak Club is offering winter training at the Trent University Paddle Tank!

Program Details:

Day: Wednesday evenings

This program is open to ALL PCKC members, all ages and abilities! We’ll be splitting into our different programs, including Youth, Racing, Special Olympics, and Adult Programming, to work on skills suited to each group.

We’ll kick things off with Dragon Boat-style paddling, with the goal of eventually working toward kayaking in the paddle tank!

There's a whole lot of canoe history here in the Peterborough area, and PCKC is busy making more!

While I toil away at the Book of Champions 😆, here’s a little gem from my early origins research: the very first “Commodore’s Salute” on Canadian waters: Stoney Lake, 1883 at the first American Canoe Association camp to be hosted in Canada. The Commodore in question was Peterborough Boating Club’s Lt-Col E.B. Edwards. He’s in there somewhere… 😊

Mondays could use some better PR—and an evening on the water might be just the thing.

Join us Mondays at 6:00 p.m. for a great dragon boat workout, beautiful fall colours and plenty of fun.

Three practices for $75, it’s an easy, affordable way to give dragon boating a try—and possibly discover the best part of your Monday.
