⚓️ FALL TAG DAYS: OCTOBER 24 & 25 ⚓️

RCSCC Howe cadets will be out in the community this weekend as part of our fall tagging campaign! While out tagging, our cadets will be accepting donations in exchange for a small tag or business card.

Beyond fundraising, tagging allows cadets to engage with the public, strengthen their communication skills, and develop the confidence and leadership abilities that will serve them throughout life.

Through conversations with community members, former cadets and officers, cadets share their experiences, build self-esteem, and gain real-world skills that extend far beyond the parade square.

If you see our cadets out tagging, please stop by to say hello and take a moment to learn about their experience. Your encouragement and support can make a meaningful difference.

Thank you for supporting RCSCC Howe and helping us provide this incredible program to local youths aged 12–18. ⚓

Celebrating Cadet Week in Ontario!

October 3 marked the beginning of Cadet Week across Ontario, a week dedicated to recognizing the thousands of young people who take part in the Cadet Program and the positive impact they have in communities across our province.

On Friday, PO1 Peterson and SLt McGurgin joined members of Branch 52 Royal Canadian Legion to raise the Cadets Canada flag, helping kick off this year’s celebrations.

This morning, Commanding Officer Capt Payne and PO1 Peterson were joined by cadets and staff from 2672 Army Cadet Corps and Mayor Jeff Leal at Peterborough City Hall to raise the Cadets Canada flag. The City of Peterborough also formally recognized Cadet Week today — a great show of support for the young people who dedicate their time to learning, leading and serving their communities.

Cadet Week was established following the passage of legislation on April 11, 2022, formally recognizing the Cadet Program in Ontario.

Across the province, approximately 24,000 cadets in more than 300 corps and squadrons are building skills, friendships and confidence through the program.

But cadets is about more than uniforms, drill and training. It is about giving young people opportunities to lead, challenge themselves, try new things, serve their communities and discover what they are capable of. For many youth, the program provides a place to belong, develop lifelong friendships and gain experiences that stay with them long after they age out.

Here in Peterborough, we are proud to see our local cadets representing the program and our community. Their commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved make a real difference.

To every cadet, staff member, volunteer, sponsor and supporter across Ontario — Happy Cadet Week!

Be proud of who you are, where you are going, and the community you are helping build.

👋 WE ARE SO BACK 🙌

Time sure flies when you are having fun! Our first few training nights have been busy, but it has been great to be reunited with everyone! Training is underway and running like a well oiled machine! ⚓️

Over the past two weeks we have promoted some cadets! Congratulation to our new Able Cadet and our new Leading Cadets! 🎉 We were also thrilled to award our Marksmanship Team with their pins from last year’s competition! BZ 👏

Stay tuned to see what else we have been up to!

🧡 Tonight, the cadets, staff and volunteers of 112 Howe took pause on the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Acting Sub-Lieutenant Peterson led a smudging ceremony. Today is a day to honour the strength and resilience of Indigenous People’s. We are fortunate to have leaders who can guide us on this journey as we listen, learn from and support our Indigenous communities with empathy and compassion. 🧡

Today, on National Truth and Reconciliation Day, we join as Canadian youth to remember, to honour, and to act. We stand with Indigenous communities, carrying forward the lessons of the past to shape a future rooted in respect, empathy, and justice. As cadets, we commit ourselves to being part of lasting change.
