The 2026 CJCR Group Photo Contest is open! This year’s theme, “Impact in Action,” invites you to capture authentic moments that show how the Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Programs make a difference through leadership, skills, community service and personal growth.

Submit your best photos in one or more of four categories:
• Leadership in Action
• Skills in Action
• Community Impact
• Personal Impact

Currently active Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers may submit up to four original, high-resolution photos taken between 1 November 2025 and 1 November 2026 (includes those who have left the Programs after completing this training year).

🎨⛵️Our first paint night fundraiser on July 25th was a very successful event!

We had a great turnout and everyone left with their own masterpiece and feeling like artists 🧑‍🎨

Huge thanks to Catarina Wagstaff for facilitating the event, and to John for being so attentive to keeping everyone’s palettes topped up with paint and making sure that we only had to focus on painting! We can’t wait to have you back this fall! 🍂

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS to our cadets who attended HMCS Ontario Cadets / Cadets de NCSM Ontario this year! 👏

On August 15th, we attended the Final Graduation Parade at HMCS Ontario, where we had two course cadets and two staff cadets. Can you find all 4 in these photos? 🔍

WO2 Cowan and PO1 Peterson worked in the canteen department as staff cadets all summer, learned many valuable skills and had lots of fun. 😄

PO2 Amarasinghe successfully completed the Sail 1 course and we can’t wait to see all of the skills he has learned on our next sail weekend ⛵️

MC Coleman successfully completed the Seamanship course and had a great time! We look forward to hearing more about it when we return in a few short weeks. ⚓️

Thanks to the officers and staff cadets at HMCS Ontario for making this summer a memorable experience for 4 of our cadets! 🫶

⚓️ Alumni Night Recap 😄

On June 13th, we invited former Cadets, Officers and Navy League Volunteers to attend an alumni event. We really enjoyed chatting with friends (old and new) spanning across decades of Howe history. We shared pictures 📸 and stories and handed out some 80th anniversary challenge coins. 🪙

We had a ropework 🪢 station set up, a rope throwing stand, a quiz on cadet knowledge and PO1 Peterson led everyone in a friendly competition of “PO Says”. It will come as no surprise that Art Van Veen was the overall winner form the activities and won a custom 112 Howe hat from our e-store!

Thanks to all who attended, and we hope to connect with more alumni at our next event. Stay tuned for the date!

👋 WELCOME BACK! 🎉

We are excited to be starting the 2026-27 training year and we will be starting off strong on September 9th for a welcome back barbecue! 🍔🌭

📋 Cadets, bring your parents/guardians as we will be taking this opportunity to fill out some important paperwork required at the start of each year. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay for the barbecue as well!

🙋Do you have a friend who may be interested in joining? Please bring them along! This is a great opportunity to check the program out and talk to cadets or officers about the sea cadet program! ⚓️

Part 2 of our year end trip on June 6-7: HMCS Haida ⚓️

On the second day of our trip, 112 Howe cadets had the opportunity to learn from HMCS Haida guides, and wowed them with their historical knowledge about Canada’s naval history. 📚

Following the lesson, cadets explored the ship and spoke to additional crew members about different parts of the ship. 🛳️

What a great way to close out the 2026-27 training year! We can’t wait to be back!

Part 1 of our year end trip from June 6-7: African Lion Safari 🦁 and Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum! ✈️

Our cadets enjoyed a fun filled day at the African Lion Safari including an informative bus tour 🚌 to see the wildlife and some free time to explore in groups. 🦓🐵

We wrapped the night up with dinner at Boston Pizza where we celebrated CPO2 Coleman’s birthday 🥳 and relaxed at Queens University for the rest of the evening.

The next day at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum 🛩️, cadets were led on a guided tour inside and outside of the facility, learned lots and even got to sit inside some planes! 🧑‍✈️
