Don't forget our regular club meeting next week, Wednesday, June 17 at 7:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1550 Lansdowne St W.
Join us for a presentation from our own John Etches.
Rock the Canoe Route
What do rocks have to do with your canoe trip? EVERYTHING!! Canada boasts more lakes than the rest of the world combined, largely as a result of our country’s geological history. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of the where and the why of the diverse paddling opportunities that we have come to enjoy here in Ontario.
John Etches worked at the Leslie M. Frost Natural Resources Centre for 21 years developing and delivering environmental programs to client groups, programming school visits, and planning educator/public events. John also delivered the Interpretive Techniques course with the Ecotourism/Adventure Tourism program at Fleming College in Halliburton for seven years. In 2006 and 2007, John developed the visitor experiences for the Wadi El Hitan World Heritage Site in Egypt for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). He has also served as a Director on the boards of the Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario (COEO) and Camp Kawartha, and has received the President’s Award from COEO, and the Leadership Award from The Ontario Society for Environmental Education (OSEE) for his contributions to environmental education in Ontario. More recently, John is a program facilitator for Yours Outdoors, central Ontario‘s premier experience provider.
