FD Everett was recently caught sleeping on the job. Fortunately he is easily motivated by the sound of an apple being sliced, or the opportunity to hold hands with a human.

For this Mental Health Monday we are celebrating hugs in all sizes!

Did you know that a 20-second hug can help lower cortisol (a stress hormone) and increase oxytocin, the hormone linked to connection, comfort, and trust?

A clean Service Dog is about more than just appearances, it is part of keeping our working partners healthy, comfortable, and ready to do their job. Because of this, FTK9's Handlers Course includes hands-on instruction on the physical care our working dogs need.

Regular grooming like baths, clean paws, brushing, and nail trims helps prevent bigger issues before they become challenges that can impact our dog’s comfort and ability to work.

A well-cared-for Service Dog reflects the time, attention, and professionalism behind the partnership.

They work hard for us. Taking the time to care for them properly is one of the simplest and most important ways we can support them in return.

May 1st is First Responders Day, though if you ask our program dogs, every day could be First Responders Day!

A sincere thank you to all those who respond with service to our community. We are all better because of your service.

This weekend our team was privileged to address the members of the Royal Canadian Legion Pembroke branch 72 during their Annual Veterans Dinner. We are grateful for the donation to our Service Dog program and we're looking forward to visiting again with our newest program recruits as well.

Opportunities like this, to celebrate our connection and create community, are so valuable. Three of our program dogs even had an opportunity to meet MPP Billy Denault and Mayor Ron Gervais!

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Every hour of the day and night there is someone volunteering by guiding, teaching, loving and caring for our working dogs and our mission. Every act of care helps strengthen our community.

Thank you to all our volunteers for "igniting volunteerism" each day.
