Monday August 31 15 Mins of Fame was 'Ladies Night' so it seemed fitting that we hear from two of our female club members. The second participant was Jane Scott with her 2002 Ford Mustang Saleen. This beauty was originally from Arizona, then travelled to California before moving north to Edmonton and eventually to Fort MacMurray, Alberta. Jane purchased her baby in the fall of 2014, trailered it back to Ontario and eventually to Perth in 2018. The recent restoration started last fall and was completed by Willie George Kelford the first week of August 2026. The new paint is a high gloss black with a halogen flake clear coat. It is absolutely beautiful, especially in the sun, which brings out the colours. Jane enjoys driving in the sunshine, and like all antique/classic vehicle owners, dreads the time when we must put them in storage for the winter.
Thank you Jane for sharing your Mustang story.

Monday August 31 15 Mins of Fame was 'Ladies Night' so it seemed fitting that we hear from two of our female club members.
The first participant was Deborah Ireton, along with her husband Jim, who shared the story of their 1956 Chevrolet 1300, stepside pickup truck. This beauty was manufactured in Oshawa, ON., and was shipped west to Eston, Saskatchewan, to Switzer GMC and Massey Ferguson Dealer. The original paint colour was red and ivory and then spent most of its life on a farm. Jim and Deb found it in the Auto Trader 20 years ago, making them the second owners in Ontario.
The truck is mostly all original, with the exception of new brakes, tires and a water pump. By the photo you will see the truck is now blue, and Deb opted for a 'farm decor' colour scheme on the interior, basically a holstein cow colour palette (just the black and white parts). One day they hope to add a set of wooden cattle racks.
Jim & Deb's attachment to the truck is that it is the same age as its drivers.
Thank you to both of you for participating in our '15 Minutes of Fame' and Happy Touring in your fabulous truck.

Better late than never…after a few edits we finally have our August 10th, 15 Mins of Fame volunteer Andrew Hickey with his 2007 Ford Mustang. He purchased this beauty 5 years ago after falling in love with Mustang Fox Body styling shortly after graduating from University.
When Andrew purchased his first 'stang in 1989, it was red with a white convertible top, which he owned for 8 years. The models, at the time, were noted for being rather easy to steal, from which he learned after having it stolen twice. After It’s Recovery with the interior missing, he decided to move on to more family vehicles.
Andrew purchased his current 'stang equipped with a 4.6L engine. At that time it had 58,000 km on the odometer and he is happy to report he now has over 88,000 km logged. Except for upgrading the stereo, he has resisted the temptation of the extensive upgrades available and for now enjoys it in its in its original form and Ford reliability.

On Monday August 3 our 15 Minutes of Fame volunteer was Jim Ireton, who shared the story on his 2003 Chev SSR.
The SSR model was manufactured during the years 2003 to 2006, with 24,000 being produced. Jim states that it is often referred to as the 'Ugly Duckling', but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Having grown up in a Chevy Family, the SSR model reminded Jim of the 1953 Chev truck that was used by his Family for many years.
This beauty started its life on the road after being won at a Charity Auction. Jim & Deb purchased it in 2014 from its second owner in Timmins, ON., with 58,000 km on the odometer. It is equipped with a 5.3L, V8 engine. Jim says it is fun to drive and they are enjoying the open road since their retirement.
Thank you Jim & Deb for sharing your SSR story.
