Congratulations to our very own Joan Stephenson-Bowes, the Town of Perth's 2026 Senior of the Year! 🎉

Joan has been an incredible part of our organization as both a dedicated volunteer and valued board member. Her commitment, generosity of time, and steady leadership have made a meaningful difference in our community, and this recognition is so well deserved.

Please join us in celebrating Joan’s achievement and thanking her for all she continues to contribute. We’re proud to have her as part of our team and community.

At this week's Council meeting, Mayor Judy Brown was pleased to present Joan with this well-deserved recognition on behalf of the Province of Ontario and the Town of Perth.

When receiving the award, Joan jokingly referred to herself as a "junior senior." The comment drew laughter from the crowd, and perfectly reflects her humility and sense of humour.

For more than two decades, Joan has quietly and consistently given back to our community. From supporting local businesses and serving on community boards, to volunteering with Meals on Wheels, the Perth Community Christmas Dinner, the Hospice Hub, and countless other organizations and initiatives, Joan's impact can be felt throughout Perth.

Her generosity, leadership, and commitment to helping others have made our community stronger, more connected, and more welcoming.

Please join us in congratulating Joan, our "junior senior," and thanking her for her many years of service to Perth. ❤️
