💜 Big news, Lanark County.

Thanks to the kindness of anonymous donors who gave $5,000, we're launching the Q***r Youth Housing Fund at Cornerstone Landing.

This fund helps 2SLGBTQIA+ youth right here in Lanark County and Smiths Falls find and keep safe, stable housing — the rent, the deposits, and the support that makes a home stay a home.

We believe in Housing First: a safe home comes first. A home comes first, support comes with it — no preconditions, no sobriety/ID/"readiness" gates not have everything figured out to deserve one. And you don't have to do it alone.

The fund is open for anyone who wants to add to it. Every gift helps keep a young person housed.

You are invited to join us for a screening of "Pride vs Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story" on Saturday, October 17th at 2pm at the Perth & District Public Library. RSVP for free via the library's website at https://perthunionlibrary.libcal.com/event/4075765

Alberta court case, where Delwin Vriend, an unlikely hero, courageously battles against discrimination from a government determined to deny his human rights. Uncover the twists and turns that unfold as Vriend's pursuit of justice challenges societal biases, culminating in a ground-breaking Canadian Supreme Court ruling in 1998 that confronts prejudice and sets a transformative precedent for LGBTQ+ rights that is cited around the world.

Pride vs. Prejudice is a production of the Edmonton Community Foundation and the Edmonton Q***r History Project . This screening is presented by the Perth & District Community Foundation in partnership with the Perth & District Union Public Library and Q***r Connection Lanark.
