Playing & Coaching Background
Over the past 10 years, I have coached teams ranging from U9 to U15 in various female hockey programs. For the past two seasons, I have been the Head Coach of the PMHA U13 Female Rec team and was honoured to receive PMHA's Recreation Coach of the Year award in both seasons.
Outside of coaching, I play in and operate the South Okanagan Women's Hockey League (SOWHL). I am passionate about creating opportunities for female players to continue playing hockey as adults and fostering a community long after they graduate from minor hockey.
Coaching Philosophy
My coaching philosophy is centered on player development, player empowerment, and fostering a positive team culture. I believe players learn best when they feel supported, challenged, and valued. While skill development and competition are very important, I place equal emphasis on effort, teamwork, and confidence-building.
My goal is to help athletes become better hockey players, teammates, and leaders both on and off the ice.
Advice for Players Before Tryouts
Tryouts are an opportunity to showcase not only your skills but also your attitude, work ethic, and character. A positive attitude, high effort, and coachability can leave a lasting impression.
What I Enjoy Most About Coaching
What I enjoy most about coaching is watching a group of individual players come together as a team. Seeing players trust one another, learn together, support each other, and buy into a shared goal is incredibly rewarding and often leads to the most meaningful success both on and off the ice.
