October 16 2026
The Okanagan Guardians started the day by going to The Fur Brigade trail via Garnet Valley. We saw 3 deer on the way out there. We took pictures of the mist coming off the reservior at Garnet Dam. We continued to the Habitat Restoration area and saw 3 women with dogs close to it . They said they were gonna hike a few miles. The dogs were loving and energetic. We then went to the Fur Brigade viewpoint and there was a truck there and no occupant. Must have been hiking. We then went to the Garnet Valley Wetlands site and saw campers on the way there. We saw another deer on the side road back to Garnet Valley Road. We then proceeded to go to Hardy Falls to look at the fish spawning. We saw some people from the Penticton Indian Band High-school class there with other various people that are well known at the School . Great work is being done!
We took some pictures and left the Falls area. On the way out of the park we saw Elders with a Language Class and stopped for a chat. There was 4th year students in attendance . Great achievements for sure. We then took the Monroe FSR to Darke Lake. We saw a deer about halfway to the lake from the turnoff. The Lake level is down. The paving operation on Fish Lake Road is completed. We didnt have anything else to report. We proceeded to Shingle Creek Road. We saw some tire tracks almost going off of the road. We didnt have anything to report on the way back down Green Mountain Road. Watch for wildlife please. It was a great day on the Land.

Did our regular routes, walked and hiked a bit. Enjoyed the friday.
Sad note, put a racoon on the land, not sure what happened to him, he was in the lake washed up on shore. He is with his ancestors now.

October 15 2026
The Okanagan Guardians went to three Wildlife Management Areas today.We started the day by going to Skaha Bluffs. People were just arriving at the upper parking lot when we got there. We traveled the upper and lower trail. We found evidence that a bear had recently been in the area. We didnt see any hikers. We took some great snapshots of sunrise on the Bluffs. There must have been a crew in there cutting down shrubs on and close to the trail. Great work being done there. We never found anything else to report. We then went to Derenzy WMA via Ok Falls. Since there was logging activity on the road we used my handheld radio to call off kilometers and let others know we were on the road. We saw some vehicles were not following this protocol. There was a heavy equipment staging area at bottom of the hill. We passed by one hunting camp on the 201. We continued onto Derenzy FSR where we saw 2 hunting camps by the road there. We didnt see any game on the road. The fall colour's are out in abundance. We talked to one hunter who said he saw tracks but nothing else. We never found anything to report. On our way out one camp had left. We then proceeded to Wiltse Highlands. We saw hikers with dogs there and nothing else. It was a great day on the land.

way' PIB & snpink'tn was a warm day, not complaining. We picked up trash along the channel, didn't take any photos. Beavers still busy just North of Nissan.
Found some at the oxbow at the end of Okanagan ave.
We then went out to Blue Beach on Trout Creek behind Summerland with the Little Paws kids. They played in the creek, one fell in but didn't bother her, was fun hanging with them. Found an old Beaver Lodge along the creek.
We drove Shingle creek back, checked a few roads out.
After Shingle creek we drove out and looked at the area behind the old game farm, sure nice up there. The pond is still wet, lots of dust baths made by the horses.
We then did some patrolling around the Ecocommunity and KVR.

way' PIB & snpink'tn channel looked ok, some trash, Beavers still busy and a Raven watching closely.
Our PIB Public Works was mowing along Old Airport rd so we stayed ahead and picked up trash, somebody sure likes Cariboo b**r! We gathered up some trash on Green Mtn rd as well.
We then went up to coyote rock, an important cultural place, as there was a complaint about trash near there. We found oil spilled and trash strewn. There was paper work in the pile.
Horses are out and about, finished driving out to highway 3a, then drove Shingle creek, picked up an old acetalyn bottle.
Found the lock on Max lake gate cut so we put another one on until Roger's communications puts theirs back on it.

The Okanagan Guardians went to Hwy 40 and did some monitoring of the ditch excavations there. We didnt find anything to report. The crew there from the truck drivers, Equipment operator and flagging crew and medic are top notch. I found one hot spot and included the pin location in my report. I saw a track of a deer. Some animals are returning there. The paving crew were gathering at the junction of Fish lake road and HWY 40 when I was leaving. It was a good day on the land.

way' PIB & snpink'tn yesterday things looked pretty good after a long weekend. Horses on Docs driving range, fertilizing before winter. Very little trash was found, biggest thing was some lumber wrap along Green Mtn rd. Somebody cut down a Poplar tree at the S-turns on GMR, cut out some of the base, a green tree, not cool!
We checked Trout creek as it looked murky so we went out onto Shingle creek and headed off road.
We hiked down the canyon to the 1915 Trout creek slide area from PIB reserve side. Interesting getting an eye level view of the slide. Its definitely pinched off the creek and creating a build up of water. It was steep, we found a game trail to follow, even Starz was pooped out. Saw in the distance where dirt bikes are hill climbing and tearing up the land.
Interesting trees out there.
We stopped at the Gabriel field, saw the owner of the beaver lodge.
Horses here and there.

The Okanagan Guardians went to Derenzy FSR to check on the Wildlife Management Area there. We stopped at the Dam at Ok falls to look at the Salmon there and saw a blue heron also. We saw a logging truck and grader on the 201. We didnt see any animals. There was a hunting camp set up on the 201. When we got on the Derenzy FSR there was a hunting camp set up there also. We didnt see any large animals there. We encountered a hunter on the road walking there. We continued onto Carmi and saw a fridge discarded on the road by North Ellis FSR. We didnt see any large animals there. We continued onto Wiltse Highlands and saw some hikers there. We saw some tracks for a side by side or quad up there .There was lots of fall colour's out and the rain was needed as well. It was a great day on the land.

way' PIB & snpink'tn the channel was clear today, we did fix our fence again, hope the horses dont escape!
A tip from a follower and we found a camp south of Wrights Beach. He was very easy to talk to and was good with moving, he had a very clean camp.
We swooped around further south then checked a sand hill where camps often pop up. A big mess there for us on Tuesday, looks like a few garbage bags full. A very cool trail marker tree in that same area.
We came back and checked the oxbows only to find an old camp, thus took a while to clean up and take to the dump.
Finished off the day patrolling upper and lower villages.
