ANNOUNCEMENT:
As we continue to receive messages and requests for information, we want to take this opportunity to share that there will be no powwow held this year.
Following last year’s event, our committee carefully reviewed feedback from attendees, drummers, dancers, vendors, and staff. Two key concerns were consistently raised:
First, the location of our vendors. Due to scheduling limitations, we were unable to secure the smaller arena space closer to the powwow grounds, which resulted in vendors being placed too far from the main event. It is important to us that vendors are situated in a more accessible and central location, and we were not able to secure dates that would allow for this improvement.
Second, and most significantly, was the cost of accommodations. Our powwow has traditionally taken place during the peak summer season in Penticton, when hotel and camping rates are at their highest. With hotel prices often exceeding $350 per night, it has been very challenging to find partner accommodations willing to offer reduced rates during these dates.
As a committee, our priority is to ensure this event remains accessible and affordable for our families, attendees, dancers, vendors, and staff. Unfortunately, we were not able to secure dates that would make this possible for this year.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We hope to share more information in the coming months regarding potential dates for 2027.
Thank you for your continued support.
