Elder Abuse happens and can be devastating. Older adults are some of our most vulnerable people in the community.

If you, or someone you know, is suffering emotional, psychological, financial or physical abuse there are supports available.

Report abuse to your local Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional RCMP.

Emotional abuse can happen quietly through fear, manipulation, humiliation, threats, or isolation. While there may be no visible injuries, the impact can be lasting.

For many older adults, abuse comes from someone they know or trust, making it even harder to recognize or report. Changes in behaviour, withdrawal from loved ones, anxiety, or sudden loss of confidence can all be warning signs.

Supporting seniors starts with awareness, connection, and listening without judgment.

If something feels wrong, trust your instincts. Your information could help protect someone vulnerable, you can leave an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-222-8477 or go online to bccrimestoppers.com

Another helpful tip to prevent being a victim of fraudsters.

Think twice before connecting to free public Wi‑Fi. Scammers often create networks that appear legitimate to exploit trust and trick people into sharing personal information.
