Join us for a screening of Shared Waters Shared Crisis

This powerful film explores the urgent effort to protect the intertwined futures of Southern Resident killer whales and Chinook salmon, highlighting the deep connections between species, ecosystems, and the people working to protect them.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with whale biologist Janine McNeilly and salmon biologist Misty MacDuffee from Raincoast Conservation Foundation.

We’re excited to share that Adam Miller and Pender Native Plants were recently featured in bioGraphic, highlighting the growing role native plants play in restoration, education, and community connection on Pender Island.

Since opening in August 2024, nearly 4,000 native plants have found homes in local gardens and restoration sites, helping support pollinators, birds, and healthier ecosystems across the island. The nursery also continues to offer workshops, consultations, and opportunities for people to connect more deeply with the landscapes around them.

As Adam shared in the article, “I love the happy energy that fills the nursery when the smiling volunteers are working away and the pollinators are nipping a cheeky sip from one of our native flowers waiting for its forever home.”

A heartfelt thank you to bioGraphic for the feature, and to the volunteers, staff, and community members who continue to make this work possible 🌱

You can read the full article through the link in comment. Pender Native Plants is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm

This Friday!!! Don’t miss this rare opportunity to learn directly in the forest with restoration expert Tal Engel🌲

🌱Spaces are limited for this hands-on workshop in KELÁ_EKE Kingfisher Forest, where participants will explore innovative ways to help dense young forests recover from over a century of industrial forestry. Spend the afternoon immersed in the forest through hands-on restoration work, while gaining practical skills and insights that can be applied to your own property.

🌲Then join us again in the evening for a thought-provoking seminar exploring the striking similarities between the social and ecological conditions required for growing and sustaining both forests and humans.

If you’ve been curious about forest restoration, ecosystem health, or how we can better care for the landscapes around us, this is one not to miss.

⚠️ Spaces are limited for the workshop, and registration is required. RSVP through the link in comment to secure your spot.

A white-crowned sparrow was spotted in Shingle Bay Park restoration planting, protecting its four eggs in a nest tucked on the ground next to a young cedar sapling. Once discovered (by accident!) we retreated to give the birdies their space. Gardeners take note during this critical bird nesting time 🪺

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how experts are tackling one of the island’s most damaging invasive amphibians 🐸🌿

Join us for an afternoon exploring an innovative technique in bullfrog control with herpetologist Stan Orchard, President of BullfrogControl.com Inc.

This seminar will share new and more effective strategies for locating and capturing American bullfrogs and systematically reducing populations. Recent data now demonstrate that populations of this prolific species can be driven to local extinction in two to four years, making regional control both feasible and practical.
