In June of 2013, the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre was incorporated as a charity. Thanks to the generous support of our communities the Centre is now fully operational. The vision is to be a beacon of hope for families and individuals in distress and crisis on their journey to wellness. Working with other service providers, programs are implemented to help meet the mental health needs of the residents of Renfrew County. This is a safe & confidential place where families and individualsl find someone to listen, understand and not judge.

Today is Trending Tuesday at the Robbie Dean Centre.

In a world full of rapid-fire wellness advice and viral trends, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by what we should be doing for our minds. Today, let’s separate the noise from the science. Mental wellness isn't about rigid 10-step morning routines. It's about small, sustainable shifts that actually support your unique nervous system.

This week’s trending micro-habit to try: "The 5-Minute Brain Dump."
Before your workday hits its peak, grab a piece of paper and write down absolutely everything cluttering your thoughts—tasks, worries, random ideas. Getting it out of your head and onto paper immediately reduces mental cognitive load.

Today is Mindfulness Monday at the Centre.

Mondays don’t have to feel chaotic. 🛑 Instead of rushing into the week on autopilot, let’s hit the reset button together with .

Taking just 5 minutes this morning to ground yourself can completely shift your energy for the next five days.
Try this before opening your inbox:
✨ Disconnect: Give yourself 15 minutes of screen-free time with your morning coffee.
✨ Breathe: Take 3 deep, intentional belly breaths to calm your nervous system.
✨ Intention: Choose one word to guide your focus today (e.g., clarity, patience, momentum).

How are you setting your intentions today?

Today is Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know that smiling can actually trick your brain into being happier? Even if it's completely fake!
When you flex your facial muscles into a smile, your brain releases a tiny rush of dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin—the chemicals responsible for lowering stress and boosting your mood. So if you're feeling that Friday fatigue, try a quick 10-second smile to jumpstart your weekend vibe.

Mental Health Myth:
Myth #1: Mental illnesses aren’t real illnesses.
Fact: The words we use to describe mental illnesses have changed greatly over time. What hasn’t changed is the fact that mental illnesses are not the regular ups and downs of life. Mental illnesses create distress, don’t go away on their own, and are real health problems with effective treatments. When someone breaks their arm, we wouldn’t expect them to just “get over it.” Nor would we blame them if they needed a cast, sling, or other help in their daily life while they recovered. - Canadian Mental Health Association
