We are entering our last week of the Shoppers Foundation for Women's Health Giving Shelter Campaign.

in Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke and Petawawa are in their final week of their Giving Shelter Campaign. This is a yearly campaign where they ask for you to round up your dollar at checkouts for the Giving Shelter campaign. Every cent raised at those select locations are being donated to us. This is your time to make an impact for all those who are harmed in Renfrew County.

Bernadette McCann House is so thankful for this donation for ! Northern collects a small amount of employees' biweekly wages and puts it into a pot, then draws an employee's name biweekly. That lucky employee gets to donate the funds to a local charity of their choosing.

Today is Truth and Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day originated in 2013. The reason we recognize an orange shirt is because of a residential school survivor from the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation. Phyllis Webstad at the age of 6 began her first day of school and had her orange shirt taken from her so she could wear the residential school’s uniform and it was never returned. She then later stated, “The color orange has always reminded me of that and how my feelings didn’t matter, how no one cared and how I felt like I was worth nothing.” Now an orange shirt has become the symbol of remembrance, awareness, and hope, representing the broader impacts of forced assimilation to Indigenous communities and the ongoing struggles.
Bernadette McCann House Services continues and strives to speak the truth and reconcile with this tragic chapter in Canadian History.

We honour the strength, resilience, cultures, and enduring contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples, whose communities and ways of knowing and being continue to guide, teach, and enrich future generations!
