It's never too late to attend a PAC meeting!
The last PSS PAC meeting of the 2025/ 2026 school year will take place June 8, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in the PSS library. Come on out and see what the PAC is up to! All parents/ guardians of PSS students are members of the PAC. Several members of the PAC executive will be 'graduating' this year -- we are so grateful for their commitment and contributions to the PAC over the years.

Screenagers Under The Influence: Addressing Va**ng, Drugs, and Alcohol in the Digital Age, the third feature documentary in the Screenagers series, delves into how the tech revolution has reshaped adolescence and its effects on substance use.

The film debunks myths and depicts strategies parents and schools can use to encourage healthy decision-making, support teen mental health, set limits, and create healthy home environments.

The film also includes many ways young people are using their wisdom and strength to help each other and themselves through this complicated terrain around substance use. While most documentaries about substance use focus on severe addiction, Screenagers Under The Influence fills a pressing need for a film that explores more common scenarios.

The film is grounded in teens’ current reality of being flooded by images on social media, movies, and TV shows about va**ng, drugs, and alcohol.

Like the first two Screenagers films, Screenagers Under The Influence interweaves cutting-edge science with personal stories to create an informative and entertaining film experience for young people and adults alike. Screenagers Under The Influence focuses on practical solutions for keeping our teens safe in a changing world.

Registering online gives you access to view the film until May 2 at your convenience. You don't have to watch during the window of time on Wednesday, April 29, but there will be a panel of 4 people and a facilitated conversation with the chance to ask questions if you do join for the dedicated event.

ℹ️The PSS Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a liaison between parents/ guardians and teachers and administration at PSS. Every parent or guardian is a member of the PAC, and is welcome to meetings. the PAC executive consists of the Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and District PAC representative. All PAC members are welcome, and encouraged, to attend meetings.
We are keen to engage as many parents and guardians as possible and ideally, would like to have at least one parent representative from each grade.
ℹ️ In order to plan for meetings that are the most interesting, engaging and valuable to you, we're asking you to complete a brief survey.

Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. The day honours the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential school, as well as their families and communities. The orange shirt is worn that day as a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations. Recognition and public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

On this day, and every day, the SLRD is committed to building meaningful, respectful and enduring relationships with Indigenous Peoples and First Nations as we continue to learn, unlearn, understand and navigate our responsibilities on this shared reconciliation journey.
