Hospice West Parry Sound (HWPS) is a visiting hospice that provides physical, psychological, social, and practical support to people living with a life-threatening illness, their loved ones, and the bereaved in the District of West Parry Sound. Our services are free of charge and include a volunteer visiting program, professional counseling, caregiver respite, community education, and bereavement programming. Our team is dedicated to the enhancement and expansion of community-based palliative care in West Parry Sound. Our focus is on maximizing quality-of-life and supporting everyone we serve in a compassionate and dignified manner.

Meet Sue Phillips and Barb Swartz-Biscaro, the facilitators of our new grief group, starting this Wednesday, September 30. đź’™

Sue is an end-of-life doula who creates a safe, judgment-free space for people navigating illness, loss and grief. Barb brings more than 25 years of experience in social services and supporting people through life transitions.

Grief can feel isolating—but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Hospice West Parry Sound is offering a new eight-session Grief Support Group for adults who have experienced the death of someone important to them.

Led by Sue Phillips, this small, confidential group will provide a safe and understanding space to:

• Connect with others who are also navigating loss
• Share experiences without judgment or pressure
• Learn healthy coping and self-care strategies
• Build hope, resilience and confidence for the road ahead

The group begins Wednesday, September 30 and will meet every two weeks from 4:00–5:30 p.m. in the Healing Room on the first floor of WPSHC.

Registration is required, and space is limited to 6–8 participants.

Gloria Hurd of Parry Sound won this week's $151 weekly prize after selecting Envelope #22 and revealing the 2 of Clubs.
The Ace of Spades is still hiding, so the chase continues.
We're projecting that the combined prize for finding the Ace could reach $5,250 next week.
It's been wonderful to see the community getting behind Georgian Bay Catch the Ace, and we're looking forward to another fun week.

Hospice care is not only for the final days of life.

Support can begin earlier—providing companionship, emotional support and a compassionate presence throughout a life-limiting illness. Our trained visiting volunteers are also here to support family members and caregivers.

Reaching out to hospice does not mean giving up. It means adding another layer of support so no one has to navigate this journey alone.
