We begin by managing weeds on County-owned land, followed by inspections on private properties.

The County uses a mix of methods to stop the spread of invasive species, including mechanical control, herbicide application, biological control, roadside mowing, and more.

The spring is a great time to get your farm dogs a groom! We had Smith and Daisy done by The Puppy Patch mobile groomer this week and they are pretty happy pups! Definitely recommend! 👌 Do you know of any other mobile groomers in our area that you’d like to mention here?

Please be advised that space near trails and picnic tables at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area may be limited during the days of May 27, 28, and 29. The space will be used for our Agriculture and Environment Services' Pond Days! 🦆🌱

Pond Days is an educational program for students from grade four and five classes to learn about conservation, environmental stewardship, and the importance of healthy riparian areas. Students are taught through interactive learning stations at Chickakoo Lake.

The National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) and the Canadian Cattle Association have launched a public comment period for the draft Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle.

Producers, consumers, and anyone interested in beef cattle welfare are encouraged to review the draft and provide feedback to help inform the final version.

Comments must be submitted through the online system and will be accepted until June 12, 2026.

Following the comment period, feedback will be reviewed before the finalized Code of Practice is released in 2027.
