HOME COURT DEFENDED: SEA-HAWKS SWEEP THE WEEKEND ! 🏐🦅

The Fieldhouse was electric this weekend as MUN WVB secured a massive double-header sweep against Dalhousie! After a dominant 3-0 shutout yesterday, the Sea-Hawks kept the pressure on today with a gritty 3-1 victory (25-18, 29-27, 18-25, 25-19).

Lydia Grawer was unstoppable at the net, racking up a massive 19 kills and 22.5 points, while Courtney Hodder and Taylar Johnston combined for 20 kills to keep the Tigers on their heels.

Karen Greek orchestrated the offense beautifully with 43 assists, and the defensive wall of Naomie McWhinney and Johnston combined for 9 blocks to shut down Dal’s comeback attempt.

Huge shoutout to the fans for bringing the energy to help us protect home court !

The NLVA continues its Provincial Championships with the 16U Male and Female Championships in St. John’s. There will be a record 50 teams on 9 courts!

At the 16U and above the NLVA selects tournament All-Stars – Most Spirited – MVP per division.

15U Provincial Championships 2026 - Recap

Thank you to all the teams that took part in the first Provincial Championship of 2026! Some amazing volleyball took place this weekend with 186 matches on 12 courts.

69 male and female teams and over 900 coaches and athletes took part in some great matches taking place at the NL Sports Centre, Memorial University, Gonzaga HS, Beaconsfield JH and Mount Pearl SH.

The NLVA would like to thank all the teams, athletes, coaches, officials, conveners, teacher sponsors, parents and spectators for a great weekend of volleyball!

Important NCCP MED Update for Coaches 🚨

The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) has announced changes to NCCP Making Ethical Decisions (MED).

📅 As of April 1, 2026, MED will move to a self-directed eLearning module through The Locker.

💲 Cost Update:
The new MED module will cost $85, a fee set nationally by the CAC.

📣 Important to Know:

•This change was made by the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) in consultation with all provincial/territorial partners, including Newfoundland and Labrador
• The new $85 MED module will only affect entry-level coaches who have not yet taken MED, or coaches who have not completed the MED evaluation component
• Coaches who have already completed both MED training and evaluation are not affected
• While MED will now carry a national fee, Sport NL/Coaching NL continues to offer a wide variety of NCCP courses at no cost — making Newfoundland and Labrador one of the few provinces in Canada providing free NCCP coach education opportunities

✅ Good news for NL coaches:

To help coaches avoid the new fee, Coaching NL is offering final MED workshops (training + evaluation) FREE of charge before the transition. All available courses can be found on our SportNL website: https://sportnl.ca/programs-services/coaching/

🗓 Final MED Dates (before March 15):

February: 5, 19, 23, 24, 25, 26

👉 If you’ve haven’t completed the Make Ethical Decisions module yet, this is your last chance to finish it for free before the CAC transition.
