This World Mental Health Day, we're celebrating the power of lived experience.

This year's theme, "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change," reminds us that people who have experienced mental health challenges bring valuable knowledge, insight, and hope that can help shape stronger mental health supports and communities.

At CMHA Grey Bruce, we see this every day in our Peer Support Program, where Peer Support Workers draw from their own lived experience to provide connection, encouragement, understanding, and hope to others on their recovery journey.

When people feel heard, supported, and understood, change becomes possible.

Our Community Education staff are attending the Agriculture Wellness Ontario Guardian Network Symposium in Guelph, Ontario. This year's symposium is focusing on the topic of grief in agriculture and the vital importance of community. Greetings were brought by Ontario's Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness, Sam Oosterhoff and CMHA Ontario CEO, Camille Quenneville.

The broader agri-food system contributes over $51 billion annually to Ontario's economy, with direct agricultural production adding $9.2 billion. The sector supports more than 867,000 workers, which accounts for about 10% of the provincial workforce.

AgWO is a suite of trainings, programs and services to support the well-being of our Ontario Ag Community.

We’re excited to be offering our Empathic Strain Workshop again this year!

This is a day dedicated to caring for the caregivers - whether caregiving is part of your professional role or your personal life.

On October 21, we’ll spend the day connecting with other caregivers, enjoying a catered lunch, and learning and sharing about small steps we can take to replenish our emotional tanks.

If you’ve been feeling compassion fatigue, exhaustion, or overwhelmed by the demands of caring for others, this day is for you.

For Community Health & Wellbeing Month, we’re reflecting on the people and families at the heart of the work we do.

Addiction can affect an entire family, and caregivers often find themselves navigating complicated decisions about how best to support someone they love.

This reflection from a caregiver in Parents Like Us: Written by Loved Ones for Their Loved Ones speaks to the importance of compassion, not only for the person struggling with addiction, but for the people walking alongside them.

“There is a fine line between help and enabling. That line is often subjective and rarely objective. As caregivers, it is important to remember that we are doing the best we can with what we have. Parenting a loved one struggling with addiction can be extremely stressful and complex, and we need to have grace and compassion for ourselves and each other.”

This is part of what compassionate harm reduction means to us: recognizing the experiences of individuals, families, and communities, and helping create space for dignity, understanding, and support.

Year after year, Judy and the team at Sunny Valley Campground show what community support is all about.

Through their annual golf tournament, they raised $730 this year to help support CMHA Grey Bruce and local mental health and recovery services. Thank you for your continued support and generosity!

To the Attack team members! Your humanity, leadership and character SHONE! The students and teachers threw some hard questions at you including what is your favourite school in Grey Bruce to visit and it was unanimous that Osprey was your favourite! 😁😁😉😉🤏🤏🤏
