Time to update your influenza and COVID19 vaccines!
M'Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre will be hosting a vaccination clinic on Friday October 23 10am-2pm.
Updated Flu and COVID19 are avaiable for anyone over 6months.
RSV is available for those over age 60.
OHIP cards are not required to participate.

This year’s Canadian Breastfeeding Week theme is “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”

We know breastfeeding support works best when mothers receive skilled care without months of waiting, peer support between appointments, paid parental leave and respect in the workplace. It works when a parent has honest information, protection from aggressive marketing and people who listen without judgment while respecting their goals.

For 65 years, La Leche League Canada has offered something simple and powerful: experienced support from one mother or parent to another.

No mother should need money, luck or the right postal code to find help. No parent should have to reach a breaking point before support arrives. Mothers should never receive a list of impossible expectations, then face blame or guilt when the system around them offers nothing.

Breastfeeding support is health care, mental health support and community care. When we strengthen the supports that work and make them accessible to every family, we help create a more sustainable start in life for parents, babies and communities.

Baby expected this fall or early winter?
We have two options for free prenatal classes to prepare you for late pregnancy, labour , birth and early postpartum.
In November we host a full day intensive prenatal class at M'Wikwedong.
In December take part in a three evening prenatal series from home via Zoom.
Both are free, open to anyone pregnant in the community plus their supports.

A sudden wave of sadness, anxiety, irritability, or dread arrives right before your milk lets down. Then, within a minute or two, it passes.

You are not imagining it, and it does not reflect how you feel about your baby or breastfeeding.

Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex, or D-MER, is a physical response to the hormonal changes involved in milk release. It is not postpartum depression, breastfeeding aversion, or something you need to “think positively” through.

Knowing what is happening often brings relief. Support helps too.
