As the holidays are upon us, we sincerely thank you for your continued support of our community campaign.
Last week, MCCATT wrote to the Mayor and all of Ottawa’s municipal councillors, as well as our local MPP and MP, to clearly state our single objective: closing the designated truck route through Manotick. These letters ensure decision-makers at every level understand the safety concerns and the strong community support behind this issue and keep pressure on governments to act.
Wishing you and your families a very merry and peaceful holiday season. Thank you for standing with MCCATT, and we look forward to continuing this work together in the new year.

The school and community safety zones on Bridge Street should not be used as shortcuts by trucks going through Manotick. Five minutes more on an alternative truck route will save lives.
How much is human life worth to our city officials?

If you believe the safety of our streets and human lives should be prioritized over economic convenience and politics, please join us.

Share our posts, invite your friends, and, if you are able, please donate to our GoFundMe (https://gofund.me/6026b921c) so we can keep advocating, organizing, and pushing for change that puts people—not trucks—first.

Together, we can make our community safer.

📢 A Progress Update for our supporters:

First and foremost, MCCATT would like to thank the people of Manotick who have supported our campaign to reroute through-truck traffic away from our village.

A special thank you to the 220+ residents who attended our community meeting on October 29th and almost 1500 citizens who signed our petition — you showed that our community is strong, united, and committed to protecting our citizens and creating change. 💚

We want to give you all an update on the progress of our campaign and the future of our efforts.

🎯 Our Priority: Public Safety
The current truck route poses serious risks to our community.
Our goal is to urge the City of Ottawa to act now and demonstrate their concern for our safety by temporarily rerouting trucks while completing the Southend Truck Network Study over the next 2–3 years.

💪 Our Progress So Far
Thanks to your support, our campaign has gained incredible momentum:
✅90,000+ views and 2,000+ interactions across social media
✅ Coverage from major news outlets like CTV News and CBC Ottawa
✅ almost 1500 signatures on our petition which will be submitted to municipal, provincial and federal representatives

Our voices are being heard and our message is reaching farther than we ever imagined.

✅ Community Meeting Success
Our meeting brought together 220+ concerned citizens, and together we showed the power of a united community.

We shared our findings, proposed solutions, and most importantly listened to you.

We are listening to the questions that you put forward at the meeting and will continue to address those and others brought forward to us as the campaign continues.

🔮 What’s Next
MCCATT is stronger than ever. Many community members are volunteering their time and expertise as we continue pushing for the immediate closure of the truck route.

💚 Thank You
We couldn’t have come this far without you. Every share, comment, and conversation makes a difference.

MCCATT has incurred costs for the campaign and will incur further costs as the advocacy continues. If you would like to support us in covering these costs please consider donating to our GoFundMe. The link will be in our comment section & available on our profile. Every contribution helps.

Follow along, there’s more to come! 🚛✨

We spoke with a Mom in our community who shared her concerns about the truck route that goes directly past Manotick Public School.

Not only does the heavy truck traffic pose a serious safety risk (particularly where bike lanes abruptly end and where trucks frequently go over the sidewalk at Bridge St & Manotick Main St)– it also disrupts our children's learning environment.

📢 We’re calling on local leaders to take action. Let’s work together to create safer routes for Manotick’s children — share this post to spread awareness.

🚨 Meet Joe. He lives at Manotick Place, a retirement community located on Bridge St. He thought retirement would bring relaxation— but walking down his own street has become dangerous. Trucks roar by, sometimes even mounting the sidewalk, making everyday life stressful and unsafe.

This isn’t just Joe’s problem — it’s our community’s.

📢 We’re speaking up. Asking the city of Ottawa to

🚴‍♂️ Meet Dr. Jim Sproule — retired physician, former Deputy Chief Coroner of Ontario, and co-founder of MCCATT.

While cycling through Manotick, Jim was almost run off the road by a truck. That moment made him realize just how dangerous truck traffic has become for our community.

He’s seen first-hand the tragic consequences of truck collisions. And the data backs him up: MCCATT funded an engineering study that shows that this route is not suitable for heavy truck traffic and that viable alternatives exist.

📢 Jim is urging you to get involved. Together, we can protect our streets and make them safe again.

Our village charm hides a serious problem: thousands of through-trucks cut through our streets every day — not trucks delivering locally, but heavy vehicles passing through. 🚛💥

We’re Manotick Concerned Citizens Against Truck Traffic (MCCATT), a volunteer group fighting to make our community safer, quieter, and healthier.

MCCATT’s engineering study identified a safer alternative route. Yet the trucks keep coming. Every day we wait, the risk grows. Failing to act isn’t just delay, it’s negligence.

It’s time we speak up to
