In August 2013, Jen Mielke heard the words from her doctor that every woman dreads to hear – “the lump in your breast is indicative of cancer.” She began to notify family and friends of her diagnosis but there was one person she was afraid to tell, her life- long friend Jennifer Mulligan, who had lost her mother to pancreatic cancer a month earlier and her father who also lost his battle to cance
r in 1996. As Jen Mielke was ending treatment, the two Jennifers joined forces and created Vixens Victorious. Jen Mielke was blessed to have the love and support of friends and family such as Jennifer Mulligan, and it is for this reason the Jennifers wanted to help support other people facing cancer and their loved ones by giving back to the community. Every two hours someone within the Ottawa region is diagnosed with cancer. Whether you personally have fought or are fighting a battle or have a loved one fighting, or fought the battle.
