1st Ottawa Baden Powell Scouts Association (Ahlul-Bayt Scouts) is an Islamic scouting group for boys and girls aged 5 to 18 years. The main objectives of this association is to provide our children and youth with the opportunity to engage in positive activities which encourage essential characteristics such as responsibility, motivation, discipline, respect

, integrity, organization, punctuality, and cooperation. Other essential characteristics include cleanliness, friendliness, and confidence. Scouting also strongly emphasizes a sense of leadership in our youth which they can take with them in all aspects of life. The scouting values that are strongly reinforced include a love of nature and the environment, an emphasis on leading a life of physical activity and exercise, and expression through artistic means. The religious aspect of our association emphasizes moral and ethical behavior and the importance of faith in our everyday lives. Our entire program is given in the Arabic language because it is the language of our Holy Quran and we encourage its use in speaking, reading, and writing. Scouters become very well-rounded individuals and grow into resourceful leaders and role-models in society.

The Otters bonded over a team building activity🧩

The Timberwolf boys braved the cold and built an igloo ❄️

This week, our scouters celebrated the auspicious birth of Sayeda Fatima (as) 🌷

🌸 The groups toured an exhibition about Sayeda Fatima (as)
🌸 They then participated in a buzzer-style trivia game, answering questions based on the lessons learned from the exhibition
🌸 Each group held its own celebrations, including dessert-making, storytelling, and more

A productive week across all sections 🌿

Our Otters explored Hadith al-Kisā, Timberwolf girls combined baking with skill-building in knots, and Timberwolf boys prepared their bayraq sticks with care.

Explorers and Senior Boys advanced their tashbeek skills, while Rover Girls expressed their creativity through wire-art projects.

Another week of bonding, growth, and fun at Ahlul Bayt Scouting! 🌟

Some notable highlights:

✨ The Senior Explorer and Rover girls were visited by special guest artist Fatima Sughra, who led an inspiring calligraphy workshop. The girls explored the beauty of Arabic script, learned foundational strokes, and discovered how calligraphy connects art with spirituality.

🧁 Our Otters hosted a delicious bake sale filled with goodies — from tasty treats to refreshing bubble tea 🧋 and snacks 🍪

🎉 The Senior Explorer boys celebrated a proud milestone with their foulard graduation ceremony, marking their commitment, growth, and continued journey in Scouting.
