As we prepare for Ukrainian Day, we’re highlighting some of the specific activities you’ll be able to enjoy on Sunday, August 16.

The Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada (UWAC) is celebrating 100 years of strengthening culture, language education, and women’s leadership. To commemorate 100 years of empowerment and service, the organization will be presenting a play in Kiew Hall on Ukrainian Day. The play will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Це був лише початок… і він уже неймовірний. ✨

Перша репетиція подарувала нам моменти, які неможливо забути. Наші акторки вражають своїм талантом, щирістю та відданістю — і вже зараз деякі сцени викликають мурахи по шкірі.

Попереду ще багато праці, репетицій і творчих відкриттів. Але ми вже відчуваємо: народжується щось по-справжньому особливе. 💙💛

З нетерпінням чекаємо моменту, коли зможемо поділитися цією історією з вами.

This was only the beginning… and it was already incredible. ✨

Our very first rehearsal gave us moments we’ll never forget. Our cast is exceptionally talented, and their passion, sincerity, and dedication shine through in every scene. Even now, some moments give us goosebumps.

There is still plenty of work ahead—more rehearsals, creativity, and growth. But one thing is already certain: something truly special is coming. 💙💛

Ми щиро вдячні кожній учасниці за сміливість, талант і бажання творити. До нашої команди долучилися чудові акторки, і тепер ми з нетерпінням чекаємо початку репетицій та роботи над сучасним театральним перформансом «Нова Українка», прем’єра якого відбудеться 26 вересня в рамках святкування 100-річчя Союзу Українок Канади. 🎭

Попереду багато творчості, натхнення та спільної роботи. До зустрічі на репетиціях! ✨

We are thrilled to welcome such wonderful performers to our team, and we can’t wait to begin rehearsals for our contemporary theatrical performance “Nova Ukrainka,” which will premiere on September 26 as part of the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada. 🎭

Ukraine Week in Ottawa | August 23–30, 2026

This year marks the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence! This is an especially meaningful milestone for Ukrainians in Canada.

UCC Ottawa, together with the Capital Ukrainian Festival and our community partners and organizations, is proud to announce a week of commemorative, cultural and community events.

The program will include a Latvian-Ukrainian Solidarity Run, a Prayer for Ukraine, Ukrainian Flag Day commemorations, Art exhibitions, Cultural workshops, music, food, family & children activities and much more.

It will be an important, inspiring and vibrant week celebrating Ukraine’s freedom, resilience, arts, culture and community. We look forward to seeing you and your families at our events!

We also invite community organizations, partners and volunteers to become part of Ukraine Week in Ottawa and help us make this important celebration truly memorable.
