Empowering Futures: SLOA Delivers Technology Donation to Schools in Saint Lucia

Ottawa, Canada — The Saint Lucia Ottawa Association (SLOA) is proud to announce the successful delivery of a major technology donation to schools across Saint Lucia—an initiative rooted in collaboration, purpose, and a shared commitment to education.

Made possible through the generous support of Algonquin College, this initiative represents a meaningful investment in the future of Saint Lucian youth, equipping students with essential tools to succeed in today’s digital world.

Led by SLOA President Marshall Celestin, the project brought together community partners and volunteers over several months to collect, refurbish, and prepare equipment for immediate use.

Mr. Charles Nixon of Algonquin College’s School of Advanced Technologies shared that, with the support of student volunteers, approximately $14,000 worth of computer equipment was collected, tested, and prepared for shipment to Saint Lucia.

SLOA extends sincere thanks to Mr. Nixon, the student volunteers, and Miss Ilpha Reynolds, whose efforts were instrumental in launching and advancing the initiative.

Logistics were supported by the Consulate General of Saint Lucia under the leadership of Henry Mangal, while KLC Shipping generously transported the equipment at no cost. Additional recognition goes to Mr. Dillan Baptiste for ensuring all equipment met required standards.

This collective effort will enhance digital access in schools across the island, supporting learning, innovation, and opportunity for students.

“This initiative reflects the power of unity and purpose,” said Celestin. “We are not just sending equipment—we are creating opportunity and hope for the next generation.”
