ALS Action Canada & : A New Partnership to Accelerate Action on ALS

ALS Action Canada and have launched a strategic partnership to elevate the voices of people impacted by ALS, and advance ALS research, treatments, and clinical trials across Canada.

As part of the partnership, Amsterdam Brewing will host its St. Patrick’s Day Festival (March 13-22), where they will release A Legendary Stout, a limited-edition beer brewed for the Ales for ALS™️ campaign. Proceeds from the beer will support ALS research through ALS TDI and the ALS Super Fund.

Festival programming will include:
- Featured menu items supporting ALS research
- Irish dancers on March 14 and 17
- Oyster shucking by Shucker Paddy on March 17 and 21
- D.J.s, themed décor, and curated playlists
- On-site Tiptap donation opportunities and cause-driven merchandise

The festival is just the first of several year-round initiatives, with additional activations planned later in the year – all designed to engage the community and drive meaningful progress.

Every donation, purchase, and engagement helps move ALS research forward and amplify the voices of the ALS community.

Keep on Buzzin’ 2026: A community coming together for ALS

We’re proud to help amplify Keep on Buzzin’ 2026, the third annual, community-driven fundraiser led by the Del Re family and an incredible volunteer committee. Their leadership and dedication continue to bring people together in meaningful ways to support ALS patient and advocate Louis Del Re, raise awareness, and drive progress.

The evening will include a dinner, program, and dance, with activations throughout. Funds raised are in support of Louis Del Re and Emily Robinson, with some proceeds toward the ALS Super Fund to advance better care, treatment, and momentum toward a cure for ALS.

We also extend our thanks to Biogen for their generous Platinum+ sponsorship supporting the ALS Super Fund.

Brewing Change in the Fight Against ALS

In 2025, Ron Keefe, owner of Granite Brewery, was diagnosed with ALS. Since then, the Keefe family has turned their shared love of craft brewing into action for the ALS community.

Through the Ales for ALS program, Granite Brewery launched Keep on Buzzin’ – a special brew named in honour of Louis Del Re, ALS Action Canada Board Director and ALS patient who helped bring the program to Canada.

Ron’s daughter, Mare (Granite’s brewmaster) and son Sam are right alongside him, supporting the effort and recently joining ALS Action Canada as Members.

Beyond the brewery, Ron and Louis helped bring Ales for ALS to the Ontario Craft Brewers Conference, helping grow the program nationwide. Together, nearly $10,000 has already been raised to support ALS research and initiatives.

“As a brewer living with ALS, I know firsthand the importance of this program… The support from across the country has been truly phenomenal.”
– Ron Keefe

The Keefe family’s story reminds us what’s possible when community, creativity, and collaboration come together.

Canucks Rally Behind the Courage to Fight ALS Campaign

A heartfelt thank you to the Vancouver Canucks for growing the momentum of the Courage to Fight ALS campaign.

On Courage to Fight ALS Night, the Canucks delivered an inspiring evening that elevated awareness, generated critical funds, and paid special tribute to former NHLer and ALS Action Canada Board Director Mark Kirton. It was especially meaningful to have the Kirton family in attendance, sharing in the spirit and purpose of the night.

From engaging concourse activations, special 50/50 initiatives, and exclusive auction opportunities, to welcoming ALS patients and families for unforgettable meet-and-greet moments, a moving ceremonial puck drop, and the sharing of ALS stories - the night demonstrated what true community collaboration looks like in the fight against ALS.

What began as Mark Kirton’s vision has grown into a renewed North American movement - one that is bringing fresh attention, unity, and determination to the ALS community.

Thank you to:
- The Vancouver Canucks, their leadership team, and the Canucks for Kids Fund for their outstanding commitment and generosity
- The ALS Society of BC for their dedicated team and volunteers
- Team Goose for helping create meaningful experiences for people living with ALS and their families
- Our partner, Charitable Impact, for enabling accessible and purposeful giving

Funds raised through this Courage to Fight ALS Night for the ALS Super Fund will directly empower the ALS Society of BC to elevate patient voices and fuel research toward a cure. We will share the final total raised once confirmed, along with what’s next for the Courage to Fight campaign.
