Mexican Dance Group “Aguila o Sol”
“Aguila o Sol translates to the expression “heads or tails”. Our logo incorporates the shape of the Mexican coin as well as national symbols such as the Eagle and Aztecs.
MEXICAN HISTORY
AZTEC: Ethnic groups of central Mexico who spoke the Nahualt language and dominated Mesoamerica from the 14th to 16th centuries. The word “aztecah” means "people from Aztlan a mythological place for the Nahuatl-speaking culture of the time. Often the term "Aztec" refers the Mexica, people of Tenochtitlan, now known as Mexico City.
EAGLE: Inspired by Aztec legend, the Aztecs were wandering throughout Mexico in search of a divine sign that would indicate the precise spot upon which they were to build their capital; The Aztecs were told to look for an eagle devouring a snake perched on a prickly pear cactus.
