Black dogs rock ..don't overlook them.....

🖤 International Black Dog Day 🖤

Meet Marley, helping us celebrate the black dogs of Animals In Need today.

There’s a long-standing idea that black dogs are harder to rehome, often referred to as ‘black dog syndrome’. While there isn’t solid UK-wide evidence that black dogs are universally overlooked purely because of their colour, it’s certainly true that darker-coated dogs can be trickier to photograph and may not always stand out as much when people are scrolling through pages of dogs looking for homes.

But a photograph can never tell you everything about a dog.

Behind every black coat is an individual personality, with their own quirks, likes, dislikes and very particular ideas about what constitutes a good day.

So today, we’re giving some of our black dogs a little extra attention. Have a look through the website and, if one catches your eye, head over to their profile to find out more about them. 🖤

You can see the dogs currently looking for homes at animals-in-need.org

Good food, great drinks, and bad dart throws (Oops, did I say that out loud?). 😂🎯

Tomorrow, we are turning up the fun at Lunergan's Pub. Come hungry, come thirsty, and come ready to have a pawsome time.

Aside from the great vibes, we’re rolling out tons of awesome raffle prizes and a 50/50 draw. Grab your friends, aim for the bullseye, and let's raise some $$$ to help the animalsl. 💰✨

Our latest nail trim day was an absolute party!

We had the usual adorable crew of cats, dogs, and a bunny strutting in for their paw-dicures. But the absolute star of the show? A bearded dragon stopped by for a little claw maintenance! It was a total first for us, and he officially stole the spotlight (and everyone's hearts)

Funding from the day will be allocated toward urgent dental surgery for Happy, a senior Shih Tzu. Happy is currently suffering from a severe systemic oral infection. Veterinary diagnosis indicates that immediate surgical intervention is required to prevent the infection from spreading to his vital organs and causing life-threatening complications.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated team behind us. A massive thank you to Karen Gravelle and Laura Breuer for generously giving their time to manage everything at Pet Valu (Rockland, ON). And of course, the day wouldn't have been a success without Mo, our phenomenal nail trimmer, whose amazing talent and gentle care kept all our furry (and scaly!) guests calm and happy, together with her partner , Anthony, who came out to lend an extra pair of hands.

Events like this simply couldn't happen without your dedication! ❤️

Watch this space for another nail trim event coming up in October.

Gio has officially found his forever home!

After 189 days with his most amazing foster caregiver, he was more than ready for a family of his own. We hoped his perfect match was out there, but as the days ticked by, we were getting worried.

We had to be patient as we waited for the perfect family!

Our greatest dreams were realized when that perfect family finally came along, exceeding every single one of our expectations.

Gio is now settling into a quiet, adult-only home with a family ready to give him the world. We could not have chosen a more perfect backdrop for this deserving boy's life - a peaceful rural lifestyle on 10 beautiful acres - a perfect place to call home.

Our hearts are bursting with joy.

This little senior desperately needs dental surgery before the infection in his mouth starts to affect his vital organs.

His owner, also a senior, lives humbly with no family other than Happy - he means the world to her but she just doesn't have the means to come up with the entire cost of surgery on her own.

We will be featuring Happy in an upcoming fundraiser to help get him closer to his surgery.

Click on the gofundme page below for Happy's full story. All donations greatly appreciated.
